Untitled[edit]

I think this article should be expanded and you guys should try to get a sample of their music. This band was remarkable for their music, and for their social commentary at the end of the cold war. In addition, I feel that this band genuinely contributed to punk rock music by adding 60's psychedelic rock, and the band made a contribution to the punk rock tradition of writing songs about books in their song "brave new world". So please, don't delete this.

Hitler Youth[edit]

Presumably the band's name comes from Hitler Youth, but I wanted to at least make sure that is a safe assumption before I put something so weighty into the article. Any objections? --BDD 20:47, 21 May 2005 (UTC)[reply]

anti-yuppie?[edit]

How was the band "anit-Reagan/yuppie"? Not sure I see how Ronald Reagan was related to the yuppies of the 1980's, other than that they co-existed. It was at least as novel for a band with Jewish roots from New York to bash "yuppies" as it is for them to don Nazi imagery. (I was just uaware of the former) Ah, the 80's...

Yeah, the "Me Decade" was largely made possible by the Reagan tax cuts. A lot of people don't quite realize how drastic these cuts were. Not that I really blame them, from watching CNN you'd think the top bracket in the US was never above 40%, and you'd think the top bracket in the UK is 80-90%. Oh CNN, so cute. Umm... I don't know what you're talking about. And I wonder if you do. The "Me decade" was the 1970's. Reagan didn't even arrive in the white house until 1981. In any case, Reagan Youth were clearly anti-Reagan and anti-Yuppie. Yuppies destroyed the E. There is also no citation for "Jesus Was a Communist" as being "a stab at the Christian fundamentalists in the United States." Random contribution: I met Dave Manzullo on a plane from JFK to SEA-TAC. I'd never heard about this band, but he explained to me that, in fact, he and the band were mostly libertarian. Influence/Legacy[edit]

I'm all for incorporating information surrounding Reagan Youth's influence, but let's make sure to avoid a "trivia section"-type list per Wikipedia:Trivia sections. Really, I don't know that there's a lot to say about it - the last paragraph in the opening section is meant to illustrate the band's importance through noteworthy musicians who have verifiable influence from Reagan Youth, almost all of whom are the usual list of second- or third-wave punk bands, which gets pretty redundant.
