Pat smear played Lake of Fire with Kurdt. Lake of fire is one of the best Nirvana songs.

Relationship with Dave Grohl

Pat is supposedly going to be joining the foo fighters on their upcoming acoustic tour (summer 2006). I would add this in to the main page...but it hasn't happened yet. -MarlonG

Member of Nirvana?

In the first paragraph is this sentence: "been a regular member of several well-known bands... The Germs, Nirvana and Foo Fighters." I knew he was in their live touring lineup, but was he actually considered a full-fledged official member of that band?

Yes, actually. Before Unplugged, Cobain tells the audience "This is our new member, Pat". I suppose if they were to have recorded another studio album, Smear would've probably been invovled with it. -Scooter.

It's a little unclear what his exact status was— but he was introduced as a member of the band on MTV by Kurt Cobain and he was often photographed with the other three men in the band. Gay?

Is pat a homosexual? I'm not being sarcastic or mocking him in any way -- I am just wondering if he has ever said anything publicly about his sexuality, whether he is bi or just gay. Anyone got some info on this?

As far as I know, Pat's never discussed his sexuality, and he's shown kissing a woman (presumably his girlfriend) in footage shot before Nirvana's concert for MTV's Live & Loud special. As for Kurt's Queen comment, Kurt and Dave Grohl were also both big Queen fans (and Dave later performed with the surviving members of Queen at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame ceremony) so that means nothing. --Celtic Jobber (talk) 21:48, 4 August 2010 (UTC)

I didn't know how to answer the question so im just editing. It seems like Pat smear is gay but he has a wife. In band pictures when they pose I have seen Pat doing some gay things to other guys. Fatigue?

There is an unsourced explanation that Smear left Foo Fighters because of "fatigue." Fatigue per se is a somewhat dubious explanation given that he was only 37 years old at the time and that the band's schedule was not unusually arduous. Sometimes "fatigue" is a euphemism for substance abuse or for generally erratic behavior. (This euphemism was used more than once by Nirvana's spokespeople when Cobain missed shows.) Or, perhaps Smear has a major health issue such as chronic fatigue syndrome. Since there is no source, and since in his own interviews he doesn't give any specific reason for leaving Foo Fighters, I think the "fatigue" explanation needs to be deleted. Nirvana Reunion

This section of the wiki is completely wrong. That Dec 21, 2010 show was not the first time the surviving members of Nirvana played live together. That honor goes to August 29, 1997 - Memorial Stadium, Seattle Center (Bumbershoot Festival), Seattle, WA. (1)

The Foo Fighters were playing and when the set was over, Krist came up to play bass, Dave went on drums and Pat stayed on guitar. They played a cover of Prince's Purple Rain and Led Zeppelin's Communication Breakdown. (2)

However, you could say that Dec 21, 2010 show was the first time a live Nirvana reunion had a Nirvana song in the set (Marigold). (3)

You could also add that the night before the 2010 reunion concert, Dec 20, 2010, was the first time the surviving members of the band played together in the studio. They did Smells Like Teen Spirit with no one on vocals. (4)

Hiatus from the Foo Fighters (1997–2005)

The last line of this section states that the previously unrecorded version of the song which was recorded in 1988 was almost on a movie in 2007. I'm assuming that what is supposed to be said is that the Germs never recorded the song and it instead appeared on Smear's album in 1988 and was then almost licensed to Cthulhu but wasn't, but as it reads now the song has never been recorded yet is mysteriously appearing in album format in 1988.L.cash.m (talk) 22:17, 21 January 2013 (UTC)

"Classical training"?

Under the "Career" heading, it states "45 Grave (1981) / Was briefly in deathrock band 45 Grave, the band that contains Don Bolles (Germs drummer) as part of classical training." "Classical training"? What's that supposed to mean? It would help if there was a citation to a source. Without it, it looks to me like nonsense, and I think it should be removed.
