Contract dispute[edit]
When Hudler signed had signed the contract with Dynamo, he had previously filled for salary arbitration, therefore making him still a property of the Red Wings. He is obliged to play in the NHL next season. NHL has approached the IIHF to intervene. So until the whole case is solved, please do not change. Norum (talk) 08:34, 11 July 2009 (UTC)
- I've re-added part of it. While what you say is true, he still signed a contract so that is noted and sourced. I have however left the team name as the Detroit Red Wings until the arbitration is settled. But regardless of arbitration, he still signed a contract, and that is reliably sourced and that should stay in the article. The part you added looks ok. I assumed you changed everything else as well. It should remain as it is, because, despite of signing a contract with Dynamo, he is still under a contract with the Wings. In the link provided it states that Hudler is among few players that filed for arbitration and that the hearings begin on July 20. IMatthew, I am right as well. He is still a Red Wings property because he is a RFA, not UFA. Whether it will be Detroit or another team in the NHL, he is still going to play in the league this coming season.

Current status[edit]
Just to point out that as of this moment Hudler is on the Detroit roster. See http://redwings.nhl.com/club/roster.htm. So until something changes, he's apparently still a part of the Red Wings organization. - Rjd0060 (talk) 13:56, 29 August 2009 (UTC)

- Say both. He is under contract to both teams. Who he plays for is up in the air, as the IIHF has evidently refused to grant him his transfer card, effectively suspending him from playing in the KHL or any IIHF tournaments ([1]), while the Red Wings will, naturally, place him under suspension in the NHL if he refused to report to Detroit. - Per the NHL's CBA, he is under contract. The Red Wings have stated that if he does play in the KHL, they expect his existing deal with the Wings would begin upon any future return to the NHL. In the mean time, he would be considered a player under suspension in the NHL (much like Radulov). Resolute 18:06, 29 August 2009 (UTC)

- He consented when he took the Red Wings to arbitration. Section 12.5 of the CBA - the arbitor's decision is final, and is binding on both parties. The player does not have walk-away rights. Since the Wings accepted the award, he is contracted to the Red Wings. As to the rest, you are right. Once he plays a game with either team, the lead and infobox should be updated to reflect the change. Ultimately, I expect USA Hockey will sign off, and the IIHF will grant Hudler his transfer card. At that point, he will clearly become a player for Dynamo Moscow, and be placed under suspension by the NHL. Until that point, however, this is a better interim description for Hudler's status. Hey, Lviv guy, don't forget that Hudler is a restricted, not unrestricted free agent. So even if he is still unsigned, the Red Wings still hold the right to him. Therefore he is still their property. Norum (talk) 00:06, 1 September 2009 (UTC)
