Rje[edit]

(22/0/0) ending 03:30 16 February 2005 (UTC)

Rje has been editing since last September and has made 3235 edits. Looking through his contributions, you will find that he reverts a fair amount of vandalism, but he appears to know the difference between vandalism and "edits I disagree with". Rje has a good familiarity with Wikipedia policy and I think he would make an excellent admin. If nothing else, he'd undoubtedly benefit from the rollback feature. --Michael Snow 03:30, 9 Feb 2005 (UTC)

I gratefully accept your kind nomination.

Questions for the candidate
A few generic questions to provide guidance for voters:

1. What sysop chores, if any, would you anticipate helping with? (Please read the page about administrators and the administrators' reading list.)
I'm already fairly active on both RC and NP patrol, I will use sysop power to facilitate me in both of these areas. I will also try to help out with VfD/Old, which seems to be getting larger as the site gets more popular. I generally try to help out where I can.
2. Of your articles or contributions to Wikipedia, are there any about which you are particularly pleased, and why?
I don't feel a great attachment to my contributions, once I've made them I see them as belonging to the public rather than to me. Although I think both Peter Barnes and Joey Maxim are pretty good examples of my work, for a fairly complete list please see User:Rje/Watch
3. Have you been in any conflicts over editing in the past or do you feel other users have caused you stress? How have you dealt with it and will deal with it in the future?
I can honestly say I have never been in a major edit conflict with another user, at least there are none I can recall, aside from the odd anon defacing my user pages (an unfortunate result of RC patrolling). I do not tend to get too stressed with wikipedia, I work well with other people and I listen to, and give, advice and help freely. Should I get into a conflict in the future I think I would back down and ask for assistance, either through the mediation process or from an unbiased fellow user, edit wars are ultimately futile. As for stress: I think I would just take a break and cool down.
