As I create this entry I am somewhat bemused as to author not being present within wikipedia until now.

I personally began reading his work in 1992/1993 as a natural progression from teen horror novels, and the classification of his books are fully justified as adult horror. Shaun Hutson takes horror to another level which young audiences would be unable to stomach. The agonising details and precise writing will leave the reader truly horrified as to what is unfolding and is without a doubt 'the stuff nightmares are made of'. They are written in a spellbinding manner which leaves the reader unwilling to continue with the graphic material, yet at the same time it forces you to read on against you're own better judgement (ha,ha, tell me that lines a joke!LOL). Don't be surprised if you skip read a few sentences.

Not one for the faint hearted or the mentally capable.

Poor quality[edit]

This article, frankly, is a mess. The narrative structure is not organized in any coherent fashion. It resembles more a collection of desultory and disparate facts arranged almost randomly. The use of a the dreaded trivia section only adds to the flaws in this piece.

I believe the editor, or others with an interest this author and/or his work, need to do a complete rewrite. If that is not done, in my opinion, the article should be deleted for falling woefully short of any encyclopedic standard whatsoever.

I was not even aware of Hutson until accidentally running across (what is apparently) his web page in a Google search completely unrelated to him.

If his work is of any quality, he and his oeuvre certainly deserve better than this article.

Changes made[edit]

Changed the statement "His works have often been extremely gritty and violent" by rewriting it to: "His works have often been described as extremely gritty and violent" to remove POV. If the characterization of his works is to remain, clearly, critical citations are needed to back this up. However accurate it may be, without third-party citations, it is merely an editor's opinion and one I believe violates NPOV.

Changed the spelling of "calibre" to the correct spelling "caliber." American English, after all, is the international language. And every text-editor program with a spellchecker will flag the word as a misspelling. E.g. Microsoft Word, which has 95% of this market.

While the statement that Hutson is a fan of "Liverpool F.C." is desultory and seemingly unrelated in the way it is written, I left it in.

However, I changed it to clarify that "LFC" is a British soccer team. Given the almost complete lack of a fan base for professional soccer in the United States, despite from the popularity of the American flavor of amateur soccer played by children, some North American readers will not be aware of the nature of this team. Clarification is, therefore, necessary.

With growth in popularity of NFL--rules football, the use of the term soccer must be used to distinguish that game from the former one; especially given the increasingly popularity of football in the UK and elsewhere around the world.

Notability[edit]

After a review of hits generated by Google search and specific book entries in amazon.com, the subject of this article does not appear to meet WP:CREATIVE. I have found no editorial reviews of the subject's work other than blog entries, publisher's notes, and one short reference in Bookweek. The article is unreferenced (other than a link to a website that the subject contributes to directly). If this author is notable, can someone please add references to support that claim?
