Spine injury[edit]

Could also use a mention of the injury that left his spine permanently damaged (all I know is that it was Chicago Police who hurt him... what was he doing? Was it involved in his activist activities?)

I can't believe palecur is contesting this page's fairness. Palecur, if you have something to say that throws a different light on Wavy Gravy, please elaborate. Baseless inuendo accomplishes nothing. Your lack of specifics in your complaint do not help wikipedia either.

removing an ISBN[edit]

At least two users who regularly correct ISBNs on WP have been unable to find the correct ISBN for the following

If this is an audio recording, it most likely does not have an ISBN. I am removing the ISBN from the page. If this solution does not work for you, please advise. Keesiewonder talk 23:38, 25 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I don't know what the issue was about this particular recording, but audio recordings often DO have ISBN numbers, especially if they are spoken word recordings like audiobooks, lectures, or guided meditations. One of the tracks on guitarist Kenny Burrell's 1963 album Midnight Blue is "Wavy Gravy" (written by Burrell}. I assume that is the origin of the name - but are there any refs for that supposition? Ghmyrtle (talk) 12:57, 10 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

citation needed removed[edit]

I just watched a documentary about the hippie era on tv. In it Wavy Gravy himself told us about how he and the rest of the hog farm were hired to take care of the safety issues at the Woodstock festival and that fact was also confirmed by other people, so I cannot see a need for a citation needed tag. This fact is common knowledge for tens of millions, or hundreds of millions of people. So I hereby remove the tag. For the record, you can cite the documentary or an article on the documentary. But a citation is needed even if everyone on Earth saw the film. How are readers - from Mars, for example - to know that and how could they look it up themselves without a citation? Removing the tag, then, was not good form.

"Scram, Gravy Ain't Wavey"[edit]

The 1930s comic strip Smokey Stover, which is indirectly the source of the term Foo Fighter, had recurring puns along the lines of "Scram - Gravy Ain't Wavey." It might somehow be a pun on gravy boats. The strip was well-known enough that it could possibly have inspired something in the 1960s. I just wanted to point that out, because this article suggests that the name comes from B.B. King saying "wavy gravy," but the origin of the phrase itself isn't discussed. And it could be this.
