Model Railroading -- and Model Railroader articles[edit]

In the future, please bring all questions about new references to Mr. Stewart's ferroequinological activities, and in particular to articles in Model Railroader, to me, rather than blindly expunging such references as if they were common vandalism. I can be reached at jamesl@hbquik.com. Hbquikcomjamesl (talk) 17:03, 31 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Well, given that he's a Brit, I suppose "colour-blind" is more appropriate. Hbquikcomjamesl (talk) 01:32, 4 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Incorrect source?[edit]

in the article it states:

" and his harmonica playing improved in part from watching Mick Jagger on stage.[40]"

Mick Jagger wasn't playing harmonica on stage in 1963 in fact, he didn't start playing harmonica live until Rock and Roll Circus which was recorded in 1968, and subsequently on the 1969 tour of the USA. If Rod Stewart improved his harmonica playing by watching the Rolling Stones, it could only have been Brian Jones who influenced Rod, not Mick Jagger. I believe the source is incorrect.

32.216.151.89 (talk) 02:53, 24 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hmm. This is October-November 1963 it's talking about, around the time of the "I Wanna Be Your Man" second single, and the Stones residency at the Studio 51 jazz cellar. What source describes what instruments the different Stones were playing during that residency? Per this book on harmonica players, both Mick and Brian were harmonica students of Cyril Davies back circa 1962. Maybe the source used here – Nelson and Bangs, Rod Stewart, p. 58 – has got it wrong but maybe it hasn't. I don't see enough yet to overturn it. Wasted Time R (talk) 10:39, 24 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

British/Scottish[edit]

I just declined an edit regarding this, a change from British to Scottish with the comment - Stewart identifies himself very stronly as Scottish. I have amended accordingly. If this change is acceptable or not clearly needs discussion/consensus first. Govindaharihari (talk) 10:02, 29 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

If there was a source that made clear Stewart's personal preference for being identified as Scottish, over British or indeed English, then there would be something to discuss. Until then, there's not getting away from his Scottish/English parentage and birth in London. So "British" has always seemed the most apt. --Escape Orbit (Talk) 20:41, 29 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Agree with that position. Govindaharihari (talk) 18:37, 1 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Can we add his religious beliefs?[edit]

https://www.premier.org.uk/News/UK/Sir-Rod-Stewart-s-new-home-blessed-by-priest-to-rid-spirits — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2.25.122.244 (talk) 03:21, 16 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

The linked article says nothing about his religious beliefs, just what Penny Lancaster wanted. --Escape Orbit (Talk) 16:50, 16 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Chart First?[edit]

Was it a chart first when the album and 'Maggie May' single topped both the singles and albums chart simultaneously in the United States and the United Kingdom? Simon & Garfunkel did the exact same thing the previous year and The Beatles pulled off a very similar feat with Rubber Soul except We Can Work It Out was a non-album single. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Phil6875 (talkcontribs) 15:52, 19 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Song "Come together": charge of plagiarism[edit]

In an interview to The Guardian, dated back to 2016, Stewart replied to the charge of plagiarism that Lennon moved to him in the 1960s. The original interview seems not to be available on the web. So it has been sourced by three secondary sources to which it could be also added rockol.it. Possibly, Stewart had a role in a song with the same title and played by the group Blues Doctors (cf. p. 34).Regards, Theologian81sp

Sources for parents[edit]

The Geni sources cited for Stewart's parents are deprecated per https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Reliable_sources/Perennial_sources by virtue of being user-generated (the "user" in this instance evidently being a "Carlos F. Bunge") and making no reference to any reliable source; most pedigrees on there are based on contributors' own- by no means guaranteed to be accurate- research in BMD records. Are there no better published biographical sources on Stewart that give their dates- even just years- of birth and death?

Raise or rise?[edit]

About this change, read a grammar article from the Cambridge Dictionary website. Morbius (talk) 17:33, 12 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@Morbius, "born and raised in..." is a common English idiom, using the definition of "raise" = "to take care of a person until they are completely grown". There is no definition of the verb "to rise" that equates. Schazjmd (talk) 18:42, 12 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Record Sales[edit]

For some reason Rod's record sales have reverted to 120 rather than 250, as per previous discuss.

Chartmasters says he sold the equivalent of 187.8 million albums. That is about halfway between 120 and 250. We would never add 250 million based on this kind of expert source. Binksternet (talk) 20:36, 18 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Suggesting Rod Stewart's Wolfie's Whiskey be added to this page:

Not done The infobox parameter in question contains {{Birth date and age}}, so it's done automagically. If it didn't appear at a particular point in time, either you're too impatient and/or aren't considering time zone differences, or you need to purge your cache. Impatient?? I don't know how it works I don't edit stuff I'm just waiting for someone to tell me how it's done, you don't need to be rude about something so simple. Lew 283 (talk) 14:16, 12 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Rod Stewart had 9 kids. Not 8...[edit]

Rob stewart has a child that is not named in the article. The child was born out of wedlock and lives in duluth currently. This is the reason that one of his wives left him for being unfaithful. Happy hunting! Kiki12228 (talk) 06:55, 23 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
