I'm going to move this page to Tadanobu Asano, as that name ordering is used when his name is romanised in English language releases of his films. - MykReeve 12:03, 22 May 2004 (UTC)[reply]

Sato Tadanobu[edit]

The indicated birth name for this actor, Sato Tadanobu, is also the name of a lengendary 12th century samurai often depicted in art, e.g. reproductions of 19th century prints at http://www.kiseido.com/printss/p7-1.htm

Go players know this fellow because he is supposed to have defeated soldiers with a go-board; similar to the legend of Lancelot using a candelabra when caught in flagrante with Guinevere.

Historicity given at http://www.kiseido.com/printss/goban.html ; the go-board part of the story, at least, seems a later artistic invention. Peter H. St.John, M.S. 22:32, 2 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

It's kind of surprising that a famous actor should have had the exact same name as a famous Kabuki character. Has this actor ever played the character of "Goban" Tadanobu (retainer of the most famous samurai Yoshitsune)? Did it inspire the parent's choice of name, or his success in performing arts, or his choice to change his name, or is the name not really all that obvious in Japan?
Would it be preferable for Sato Tadanobu to cease redirecting to this Asano page, or for this page to make mention of the historic individual? Cesiumfrog (talk) 03:08, 3 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:Ichi the Killer Dvdcover.jpg[edit]

Image:Ichi the Killer Dvdcover.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Macron in real name?[edit]

I'm not sure where his real name comes from (source?) but since it isn't very widely attested without the macron shouldn't we use it? elvenscout742 (talk) 07:15, 27 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]
