misc[edit]

Anonymous user User:24.91.174.93 contributed text now at Alison Moyet/temp, which is copyrighted. Anon claims to be the copyright holder and representative of http://www.alisonmoyet.com/ . Merged the two articles. Mainly created a discography and copied some text, cutting out the advertisements. Deleted Alison Moyet/temp, but the text can still be found for example here -- Chris 73 Talk 02:02, Jan 2, 2005 (UTC)

Chris, and anonymous contributor, thanks for your work. I hope that all will feel free to edit the text to correct factual inaccuracies.

One thing I remember about Alison is how, I think in 1987, she had a UK single "Loveletters Straight from your Heart" that was number 65 in the BBC annual list for that year [1]. I just added a couple of photos (album covers) to the page, as per the tag on this page, and some 'helpful' new changes patroller has just reverted my changes.

"Died" in Background Info ?[edit]

I notice that the "Background Info" now shows "Died 17 Oct 2010, Bangor, Ireland". I can't find confirmation on this anywhere including her official site. And there is no mention of this anywhere else in the article. Sales figures[edit]

Sales of 800,000 for UK singles is a massive underestimation. Her 6 Top 10 singles come to about 1.5 million sales. That Ole Devil and All Cried Out both sold around 300,000 copies; Is This Love and Love Letters both sold 250,000+, and Weak and Love Resurrection both sold almost 200,000 each. I'd imagine Invisible sold a few over the Christmas period. Agreed. Presumably they're talking about certified sales - which is basically her four silver discs added up to 800,000. In fact, silver certifications were for 250,000 pre 1989, so it would add up to one million for these alone. I'll amend the text accordingly, but can't put an exact figure unless we have a source.--Tuzapicabit (talk) 14:13, 19 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Secondary Education?[edit]

I notice a gap in account of her schooling, saying she attended Markham Wood Junior School. Next sentence begins "After leaving school at 16.." without mention of where she attended after junior school level. Raises question as to whether secondary schooling was in state school or private, and where she was schooled, locally or away from family home? Stonewall letter[edit]

I've edited this for greater clarity. The letter she signed was not attacking Stonewall for "supporting trans rights" as an earlier version had it, but for a failure to act against bullies trying to silence gender criticism. Hi just seeing your post now. The link you used is an opinion piece. Opinion pieces are generally not considered reliable sources. The Reuters article I found was the only non-opinion piece I saw on this letter from a mainstream news source and it see the letter as being over trans rights. That's not an opinion article. That's a news article by Lucy Bannerman, who writes news, not opinion. It was in the news section of the paper. If we disagree on what's news and what's opinion, then let's link to the letter itself (as I will do now). The mention doesn’t even make sense grammatically. Everything Moyet has ever said or done is not notable. Actor James Dreyfus who signed that same letter has made such issues a staple of his personal life yet there is no mention on his page. Moyet recanted her support for it and has shared her views on myriad topics. We can’t and shouldn’t be listing them all. Name[edit]
