This article is highly unbalanced[edit]

This article contains unconfirmed information as to the subject's father's death due to alcoholism which is potentially libelous, (example: quoting the NYTimes is not a legal defense against libel against Wiki). I did not find the reference to Mr. Steel's father's alcoholism-related death in the reference material (website) the editor stated it is in. In addition, this article contains an entire section headed "Criticisms" with no balanced section of Achievements. Almost every comment is made by persons of the opposing political party of this subject or magazines and newspapers well-known to be politically slanted. The discussion page is another indicator. It is so obvious it is embarassing for this Wiki editor to read, even by an Independent with little to no interest in politics. This article should be heavily revised or deleted altogether. Again, it is potentially libelous. Mugginsx (talk) 12:03, 11 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The bias in the article is patent from the omission of the defining event of Steele's chairmanship: the voyeur strip club scandal It is not anti-Steele: it is a whitewash and removes any reason to believe that Wikipedia's coverage of politics is fair and balanced. Actually, references to "Unfit for Wiki" tell me that Fox has infiltrated the Wiki editors. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Cybersharque (talkcontribs) 07:57, 1 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Removed entire "Criticism" Section. This kind of material belongs in a blog or a newspaper, certainly not in a WIKI article of living person. It is highly imflammatory, potentially libelous, politically unbalanced, and far below WIKI standards on many levels. Mugginsx (talk) 15:03, 11 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Removed Oreo Cookie Incident - This also is BLOG MATERIAL. UNWORTHY OF WIKI. Mugginsx (talk) 17:28, 11 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Really? The Oreo incident received quite a bit of coverage in the media. Also, I would question your judgment if you really think this article should be "deleted altogether". Stonemason89 (talk) 22:48, 7 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
The Oreo incident did receive coverage and therefore is very relevant, but looking at this article I see a ton of bias against him, it should be changed to a more nuetral point of view. Just my opinion Triggafinga (talk) 21:01, 17 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

hey mug, can you actually cite specifics? i am a republican and consider myself fairly balanced as well and yet even i have to admit that some of the scandals noted in the criticisms section had massive media coverage and were very noteworthy. and if wikipedia can't even cite the new york times (because you find it slanted) or even other top republicans?! what the hell can it cite? 71.195.250.10 (talk) 03:31, 5 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

If I am not given a retort, I will assume much of the info here is violating the NPOV, and will remove it. Though I tend to agree with a few points, we must keep this neutral. If you look at Democrat pages such as Kendrick Meek, no one bothered to make note of his public criticism of Barack Obama, as is the case with many others. I'd also suggest for the future, people with a strong viewpoint of this man (love or hate) should try their best to refrain from editing. Triggafinga (talk) 21:19, 17 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
All right, I'll give you a retort. You're wrong.
Now, would you please give a more specific comment here about what information you think violates NPOV? Keeping it neutral doesn't mean removing all criticism. Perhaps your concerns about balance would be better made by leaving in the information that's currently in the article, but adding any favorable information that you think has been omitted. Looking on this, I can't believe the oreo cookie 'incident' has a section bigger than his two elections. Its grasping at best and deserves one or two sentences at most. MavsFan28 (talk) 16:31, 19 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

deleted material[edit]

i went ahead and re-added the long standing material user mugginsx deleted in january reasoning that wikipedia should not report on anything potentially negative about michael steele since that only belongs in "blogs". someone also needs to add coverage of the recent spending scandal that even top republicans commented on during today's sunday morning talkshows. i came to wikipedia for information on it and was shocked to find nothing. 71.195.250.10 (talk) 03:23, 5 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia conveys its bias once again in 2012. How much is Steele paying for the whitewashing?Cybersharque (talk) 08:00, 1 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Political positions[edit]

The section titled "Political positions" has grown to be a long list. I suggest that this either be shortened (more concise), or that a new article Political positions of Michael Steele be created like: Political positions of Pat Buchanan, Political positions of Rudy Giuliani, and Political positions of Fred Thompson with a concise summary and link on the main Michael Steele page. Thanks. Ism schism (talk) 19:38, 13 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Michael Steele Signs with MSNBC May 23, 2011[edit]

Talks with Fox News and CNN before signing with MSNBC. In a statement, Steele said, "It's an honor to contribute and engage in the dialogue on MSNBC…I look forward to engaging a diverse audience to share insights and analysis about the people, issues, and events shaping America's future. I'm sure our discussions will be both informative and a bit spirited!"

"I'm thrilled to have Michael join MSNBC," said Phil Griffin, president of MSNBC, in a statement. "His strong voice and opinions will be a great addition to all of our programs."

I was surprised to find that this information was still not in the article. I'd add it myself, but I don't feel confident enough in my abilities to create a new section about it. Tad Lincoln (talk) 10:15, 7 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]
