No longer with Helena?[edit]

I'd not seen anything about this before the trivia section on Brian's page, but there's no source or whathaveyou. Can anyone find a source for this? Otherwise I'd recommend it's removed until Brian confirms it in an interview or something. Lately in an interview he gave before the gig in Germany (Koln on 03/06/2009 ) he says himself he's a single dad. I think that can be taken as source of Helena being his ex now. On the video for Pure Morning I just saw he appears to be playing a Telecaster, does anyone know if this is his weapon of choice? There are other videos where he appears to be playing a stratJohnnybriggs 22:47, 22 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

i believe the Telecaster is his "weapon of choice". his first guitar was a tele, although he also plays Jaguars, and on occasion a Gibson SG.

Brian is NOT English![edit]

English does not only pertain to nationality. It may refer to the language spoken. Same with American. The people in the USA are NOT the only people who call themselves American. Regarding Wikipedia categorization, I don't believe that 'English' is automatically applicable in terms of language; otherwise, anyone who speaks English would be in the category of "English musician", including bassist Stefan Olsdal (who is Swedish). Sting has performed and recorded in French, but that certainly doesn't make him a French musician, at least not by the standards of Wikipedia categorization. ~_^ Also, though I understand what the previous commenter means re 'American', when someone is in a category of 'American musicians' or 'American scientists' or whatever on Wikipedia, it is understood that the United States of America is meant by that. They are sometimes referred to as a British band by lazy journalists (along with the labels "glam" and "goth", which the band members have also challenged) due to first recording and coming to prominence in the United Kingdom but they themselves have pointed out that 'European' is more accurate due to the varying nationalities. Ex-drummer Steve Hewitt was the only English member; bassist Stefan Olsdal is Swedish and singer/guitarist Brian Molko is half-Scottish, half American. I hadn't noticed the 'American male singer' category; not sure that that fits for him...need to do more research on Wikipedia categorisations to determine if this is accurate. Placebo were based in London, UK. In their entire history, only ONE member (Steven Hewitt, former drummer) was English, born in Manchester. Brian Molko was born in Brussels, Belgium, to an American father and Scottish mother. By birth, this makes him Belgian. Technically, he is Scottish-American (in the sense that you are 50% one parent and 50% the other, this is accurate). He has no known English ancestry, therefore he is not English...not to mention, Scotland natives would be very annoyed to be called English!

Drug free[edit]

In a 2010 interview, molko stated that the band was then drug-free.

"Openly bisexual" or just "bisexual"[edit]

This is a wording thing, and I don't want to step on the toes of the original writer, but I feel that "openly bisexual" is both redundant and carries with it an implicit judgement that the normal state of affairs should be to be closeted. You wouldn't write about someone else, for example, "openly straight" or "an open supporter of FC Barcelona". The word "openly" only gets thrown in when there's a value judgement, it's not really needed here. Writing something like "Molko states he is bisexual" would be more accurate, if indeed he's stated (and self-identified) as such. The given reference implies as much, "Brian Molko says he wishes he kept quiet about being bisexual," but it's unclear if Molko actually used the term bisexual (as opposed to "queer", or something else), or if the author did. It would be good to get a direct quote when it comes to how someone self-identifies.--Ajasen (talk) 18:05, 1 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Those of you who repeatedly edit the page with fake "details" need to give it a rest - frankly, it's a little scary, not to mention boring.

This page will end up being deleted entirely if it continues to be vandalized. Go make a fan site or join a fan board (there are plenty around) and "allocate your sentiment" on there instead.

Vocal style/more musical appraisal...?[edit]

I'm not qualified to write it, but the article seems to lack any info in this sense. The man has a unique voice and is a consummate musician in both that respect and that of his compositional skills. Can someone add value to the article by discussing the central issues pertaining to a musician? At the moment, it looks very scant for the biography of a fairly major artist.
