I don't think he ever worked with Pink Floyd. Does anyone have any evidence that he did? 24.161.108.255

I am sure he was playing with them on Live 8... I saw him playing in Paul Young's band at Coventry when they were supporting Tom Petty and THB, but our attention was transfixed by the Fabulous Wealthy Tarts back up singer lady duo... ooh those tight pants! Palladino created abd performed the bass solo for David Gilmour's "Murder"- an amazing fretless solo in the song. He did work a lot with Gilmour & Townshend on a lot of records.

I recall his work on "Give Blood" (Townsend's White City I think) as being one of his more notable works. Wamnet 15:05, 16 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Change of Instrument[edit]

This section is full of hyperbole and reads like a press release. "...In the 1990s, ....At the time, he was well known within the industry for his fretless bass sound" Really? Says who? "....He was maturing as a musician...." Really? By what standard? "....He later wrote that he felt privileged to have been amongst the others on stage in such an event.." Really? Where is the attribution? .....Richard proved to be mightily impressed by Pino's natural bass playing ability;[6] More crap. “ This Pino Palladino, I can say a Meters record and he can play me the bass line. He can play anything. He's one of the only people in the world who can totally replicate that kind of Beach Boys/scratch/Walker Brothers bass. You can get that sound if you want it, dead on. So it was very liberating working with him." Ditto-crap. Reads like poorly-written liner notes.

BTW - the references are leading to 404 errors "Page not Found", rendering them useless.

He played a fretted Fender P bass with Jools Holland. He played fretless after that. I know this because I saw him play with Holland.

I see here that he bought his fretless in 1981. http://www.bassplayer.com/article/pino-palladino/nov-06/23886

Palladino's newest venture: Phillips Saisse Palladino[edit]

Touring as Phillips Saisse Palladino, a jazz fusion trio, mainly, which began a tour of Europe in late 2009. Often the references are shortened to PhiSaiPal or something like that. This article does not mention as far as I could see his early contribution to Welsh-language rock music, particularly, his appearance with such great bands as Geraint Jarman a'r Cynganeddwyr. See for example - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cnJJcjyZYag&feature=related

Pino's work with Dutch Musician Alain Clark[edit]

It's true, but then I wouldn't call "needs rewritten" the Queen's English. I've already done extensive editing and will probably do more.

The wife and The Fabulous Wealthy Tarts[edit]

It is one of those 'wording' issues. I believe they call it semantics. Maz was not a "background vocalist" for The Fabulous Wealthy Tarts. She was a member of the group. The Fabulous Wealthy Tarts, however, performed background vocals for other artists, this does not make her background vocals for the TFWT. It makes her a member of TFWT, and it makes TFWT the background vocals.

Saying she was a BgV for TFWT would be the equivalent of saying she was a background vocalist for the background vocalist. No, that is wrong. She was a member of a group. The group were the BgV.

THAT is why I made the change with edit 979747266.

Further information - Palladino and Roberts met while The Fabulous Wealthy Tarts were performing as Paul Young's backing vocalists. The Fabulous Wealthy Tarts were also known as Maz and Kim. Kim is Kim Lesley, the mother of Jasmine Cephas Jones).
