Missing airports

YYT - St. John's International Airport, St. John's, Newfoundland and Labrador

YVR - Vancouver International Airport, Vancouver, British Columbia

Victoria BC and Calgary AB also have major airports. There must be others, eg Quebec City, Saskatoon, Regina, but I don't know the codes offhand.

If anybody wants to actually go through and add the airports systematically, a full list can be found at http://www.airlinetickets.bz/ca-airport.php . I ain't gonna be the one to do all that by hand, though. Bearcat 02:50, 23 Aug 2004 (UTC)

  • That by no means is the full list but, a good link none the less. --Captain433180 05:14, 20 Nov 2004 (UTC)

I just did all known Manitoba Airports. I am working with my CFS. I will work on a province by province basis. B.C. , Ontario , Quebec will take bloody forever but this is my make work project. --Captain433180 05:11, 20 Nov 2004 (UTC)

Delete this page?[edit]

I haven't flagged this page for deletion yet, but I think it would be a good idea to do so. There are far over registered 1,000 aerodromes in Canada, even excluding floatplane bases -- do we really want to list all of those in a single article, and try to keep that list and its links up to date? Second, we already have Category:Airports of Canada and the provincial subcategories, where all Canadian airports with articles are listed and kept up to date automatically. • If we flag this page, we should flag all lists that are just lists, which is about half the collection. I haven't done it because I am uncertain about what others feel. Burgundavia (✈ take a flight?) 13:50, May 24, 2005 (UTC)
    • I think that the main question is whether a list adds any new information. For example, listing the airports that serve a metropolitan area is useful, because those airports are not grouped together anywhere else in the same way. In this case, the intended content of Category:Airports of Canada and its subcategories exactly duplicate the intended content of this list, so there's no new information. • Yes, if you vfd a bunch of the lists, I will back you up on it. Burgundavia (✈ take a flight?) 15:04, May 24, 2005 (UTC)
        • Thanks. I've decided to move the discussion up a level to Talk:List of airports, since, as you suggest, they're pretty much all in the same situation. I'll wait a while for discussion before considering a vfd. David 17:36, 2005 May 24 (UTC)

I've vfd'd List of Airports. David 18:20, 2005 Jun 3 (UTC)

Update[edit]

I've listed all the airports in Canada. I've used the CFS so they are listed by that name as I don't have access to all the names that the airport authority uses. I felt that sorting by IATA code would no longer work as not all will have codes. Also, listing by ICAO looked odd and was akward to search through, so it's alphabetical. If there are any major complaints as to the way it's listed I can quite easily change them.

I didn't bother making links for the heliports as they change too often to really be any use. If you look at List of stations of the Paris Métro I see that they linked stations that did not have an article back to List of stations of the Paris Métro. I think that it's a bit confusing and does not show which ones are in need of attention. Again, if any major concerns it's easy to change. The links that are valid should lead directly to the airport and not to redirect page.

The list is valid until 0901Z 27 October 2005 and depending on when the new CFS comes in I will update it. The problem is the CFS can be up to 2 weeks late.

I think I have ommitted 1 water aerodrome but I can't find it. CambridgeBayWeather 06:44, 25 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]
