Vandalism[edit]

I would like to call attention to possible vandalism by IP 2a02:908:113e:f4a0:44f:f6ea:f3b5:b766 on this page and Foreign relations of Taiwan. The editor appears to have made unsourced changes to the article claiming that Nicaragua's foreign ministry announced a change in its diplomatic recognition of Taiwan. Reading through English and Spanish language news, the claim appears to be false, and I have reverted the original version. — Preceding unsigned comment added by TikkaMasalaCornishPasty (talkcontribs) 21:32, 8 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

top[edit]

The 1990 election victory of President Violeta Chamorro placed Nicaragua in the ranks of Latin American democracies.

I don't know how to reword it, but that certainly isn't a NPOV sentence.

It practically denounces the 1984 elections. The only entity to label them unfair was the Reagan administration, unable to accept that right-wing parties couldn't win a free election in the US backyard.

And had Ortega won in 1990 too, would have that meant that Nicaragua would have not been a democracy?

??Who is this person who posted the message above? Fisrt off, you will believe anything you want to believe. Secondly, to answer your question, It's not that Ortega won that didn't qualify it as a democracy, it was the way he won. If you win an election by fraud, that does not qualify you as a democracy. Thirdly, you need to go back an do some research, a large number of countries denouced the elections, in-fact, the only countries to recognize the elections were the communist, socialist and dictorships.

Actually the United Nations recognised the election results, they are NOT contrary to the beliefs of some a socialist or communist inspired international! Personally I would believe the UN before believing members of Somoza's Guardia or the U.S. State Department.

Taiwan[edit]

Can anyone please explain to me, why the Central American states all still have relations with Taiwan instead of the PR China? After the recognition by the US I somehow don't see the point in this... Thanks!

It is really hard to find much in the way of detailed news of political, social and economic developments in Nicaragua since the 2006 elections. Aside from the FSLN's "Zero Hunger" campaign. Will Nicaragua continue to recognize the so called "Republic of China" as opposed to the PR of China now that a democratic socialist party, which once had a strong Marxist faction is in now in office again?

Republic of China[edit]

"In 2013 Nicaragua announced that Nicaragua's Foreign Relations Minister announced that Nicaragua will..."

The country announced that the country foreign relations minister announced that the country will? This is a very confusing style. --2.245.73.46 (talk) 02:42, 24 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]
