A few neat facts[edit]

I have a weekend house in Mineola and I have learned some stuff about the city in the few years I lived there. edit:I am not sure if this should be added but I thought I would mention it and see what others say.

Texas Governer James Hogg lived in Mineola and his daughter Ima Hogg was born in a house in this city the house still stands and has a historical marker on it.
The town was founded for the purpose of a train city. It is beleived the man who founded the city combined his daughter Minnie and her freind Olla's names to create the city name Mineola.

Bonnie and Clyde (Movie)[edit]

Bonnie and Clyde's second bank robbery - and the first undertaken with CW Moss where he mistakenly chose to park the car and they hence had a difficult getaway culminating in Barrow commiting murder by shooting their pursuer in the face - was seen to be set in Mineola. The name of the town appears in mirror shot on the door of the bank.
