Platinum in Italy[edit]

Platinum certification in Italy was given for over 100.000 copies sold (the rules changed and the copies became 70.000 only recently). So She's so unusual sold at least 100.000 copies here in Italy and the same apply to True Colors. --84.223.69.158 (talk) 19:21, 1 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

She's so Unusual in Colombian Charts[edit]

Girls Just Want to Have Fun was released in Colombian in december 20th 1983. Time after time was released in april 1st, 1984. She's so Unusual was released in September 21st, 1984. The album peaked #1 in december 1984 and remained at #1 for 7 weeks. She's so Unusual in Brazilian Charts[edit]

The album has sold over 105.000 copies in Brazil according the famous and respected Brazilian magazine "Veja" #950 (11/19/1986) and won gold certification in 1989. Mixed reviews?[edit]

I removed the following text:

She's So Unusual received mixed reviews on its release (its sole Grammy was for Janet Perr's Album Package). In recent years, however, the album has been re-appraised by the music media, and songs like "Time After Time" are considered pop classics.

That text made it sound as though She's So Unusual was not respected by critics or the industry at the time of its release, and only was recognized as an important album in later years. But that's not true. Many critics were favorable toward She's So Unusual in its time; the album placed 11th in the annual Village Voice Pazz & Jop poll. [1] That means 50 professional critics (out of 240 surveyed) ranked it as one of the year's top 10 best albums. And at the Grammys, the album was nominated for Album of the Year, "Girls Just Want to Have Fun" was nominated for Record of the Year, and "Time After Time" was nominated for Song of the Year. If that isn't enough, Lauper won the Grammy for Best New Artist. It's hard to argue that the Grammy voters failed to appreciate an album if the artist who recorded it (as her only album at that time) won the Best New Artist prize. --Metropolitan90 02:25, 20 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

22 Million?[edit]

I find this worldwide figure hard to believe and don't think the independent counts as a valid source for the worldwide sales of this... Madonna's 'Like A Virgin' has far more certifications and higher chart positions worldwide yet is estimated at only 21 million copies sold worldwide. Those 22 million copies of She's so unusual are unreal. This olbum sold relatively well, only in USA (6 million shipped between 1983 and 1997), in the Europe it had a moderate success, reaching top 5 in only 4 countries. 16 million copies its yet exagerated, the more accurate would be 10 or 11 million copies worldwide. Even Madonna's Like a virgin, which managed to reach top 5 in eleven countries, sold almost twice She's so unsual sold in USA, didn't sold 22 million copies worldwide, it's listed at 21 millions, since it was better in worldwide charts, and has more certifications than She's so unusual. Audible error[edit]

There is an audible error on the left channel of "Money Changes Everything", at 0:39. The error is a gap of silence which has a duration of 4 milliseconds. Gap vs Claimed sales[edit]

Hi everyone, I think the 16 million claims is quite inflated for this album. Having gaps are fine, but I don't really think this album sold another 10 million units outside United States (6 million) because "ratio" seems very improbable and chart positions also shows it. There is very few countries listed here with certifications and seems isn't a million-seller album in other music markets. Ping @88marcus: If he can helps to find available sales in other markets or try to find a lower figure for its worldwide sales. I'll try to do both as well. @Apoxyomenus: I was thinking about it this week, I've redid, in the last few weeks, all the Cyndi album articles on Wikipedia in Portuguese. I only found sources that speak about 9 million copies sold, I wish I had found one with claims of 10 or 11 million, but I couldn't find it. I don't include those sources, because I remember fighting to keep the 16 million, while some fans wanted to put in 22 million here. The sources that claims 9 million are these:

@Apoxyomenus: Great, but the fact that it's an old source can be a problem, this album has been getting certificates over the years and as a result its sales have increased compared to 1986. :/ I found one that says 12 million, but the site is not reliable...
