Archived[edit]

Three year old talk page archived, but I'm sure it's wrong. Fxmastermind (talk) 16:37, 27 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks. . dave souza, talk 20:28, 27 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Seriously? I'm hoping somebody who knows what to do will fix it. Fxmastermind (talk) 02:49, 28 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I moved the archive page to a more typical naming ("Archive 1" instead of just "archive") and added an archivebox template above. --RL0919 (talk) 22:48, 25 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Sea ice extent[edit]

Just to confirm, Forbes isn't a good source for NASA data, much better to refer to World of Change: Antarctic Sea Ice : Feature Articles or NASA Visible Earth: 2015 Antarctic Sea Ice Extent. Another option is NSIDC Sea Ice Index, but these don't explain the relationship to the Arctic or some common myths. Worth having a look in AR5 4. Observations: Cryosphere and using that to update this article. . . dave souza, talk 20:28, 27 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

The Forbes article isn't even about Antarctica, it's about global sea ice. To be relevant to an article about Antarctica it would have to be about the increasing sea ice at the south pole. Sources for that info are abundant. The entire WP Article seems to be about three years out of date, in regards to climate change happening there. Minor content cleanup[edit]

I just removed a couple of sentences concerning the absence of dry ice deposition in Antarctica. As written they were incoherent; they were written in the form of a reply to a question asked in an archived post on this talk page and made little sense without that context. The reference supporting the removed sentences was also incorrect; it referred to the main Antarctica article, but the supporting information was in a post in Talk:Antarctica/Archive 2.

I considered rewriting, but discussing why carbon dioxide doesn't condense into dry ice under the conditions prevailing in Antarctica seems to be a significant diversion from the description of the climate of Antarctica, and it would have necessitated a further restructuring to avoid orphaning the sentence describing the location at which the lowest temperature was recorded, which seems to me to be much more relevant. Darrell Tangman (talk) 18:35, 18 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

After looking at that content (which I missed when it was added), I support your action. Now, if someone is aware of a reliable source that explains specifically why carbon dioxide does not precipitate at that location when the temperature is very low, than I could see the information being put in an explanatory footnote. - Donald Albury 21:18, 18 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Article should have a section about SNOWFALL[edit]

There's no data on annual snowfall. Glaciers come from snow so snowfall is important. Antartica's high mountains are like Greenland's snow making machine. 2603:7000:4EF0:9B0:C99:6F55:A836:2E58 (talk) 21:09, 23 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
