Old talk[edit]

While splitting this page into football and hockey, like at CSKA Moscow, could be a good idea, right now too many links point here in regard to the football club (plus a lot of info on this page is regarding the football club). It might make more sense to keep the football info here, have FC Dynamo Moscow point here, and give HC Dynamo Moscow its own page. --Dryazan 19:04, 3 Jun 2005 (UTC)

The result of the debate was move. —Nightstallion (?) 08:46, 28 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Requested move[edit]

Dynamo MoscowFC Dynamo Moscow – The article contains information about both the football and ice hockey clubs and needs to be split. The move is blocked by a redirect with an edit history. Conscious 16:04, 21 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Note: I have already moved information on the ice hockey club to HC Dynamo Moscow. I think that after the move, a disambiguaion page Dynamo Moscow should be created. Conscious 16:26, 21 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

  • Support as nominator. Conscious 16:04, 21 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose: based on googling, FC 2.5 times more popular than HC --> it would be more appropriate to leave FC here. MaxSemtalk 16:34, 21 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]
  • OK, I'm too hasty. Weak support. MaxSemtalk 17:10, 21 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]
  • support, the HC is no less Dynamo Moscow and a very established club as well. --Irpen 16:49, 21 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support the move. FC may be more well known, but they're midtable mediocrities and HC are reigning hockey champions.  Grue  16:49, 21 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support per nom Oldelpaso 19:30, 21 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support. Olessi 17:30, 22 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support however many hockey and football articles already link to "Dynamo Moscow", so if it's not already what's planned, the new page should disambig to FC, HC, any other notable sport divisions of Dynamo Moscow, perhaps also explain that they are different sections of the same thing. --Legalizeit 13:02, 26 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Discussion[edit]

  • My reasoning for splitting is that the article on FC is of a decent length, and a hockey roster was added recently, so there's enough information for two articles. Hopefully nobody will object the notability of both clubs. BTW, does anybody know the correct name for basketball club? I've found two basketball-related links in whatlinkshere. Conscious 17:18, 21 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]
MBC Dynamo Moscow [1]. But what stands for "M"? MaxSemtalk 17:38, 21 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Argh, it's "Men's" [2]. I'll include it into disambig, probably also worth a stub. Conscious 19:10, 21 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Nickname[edit]

Since the nicknames, given by rivaling teams' fans (i.e. the offensive ones) are mentioned at other clubs' pages, why not mention Dynamo's 'real' nickname here too? 62.5.247.210 23:15, 7 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Do it. What is their nick? Wiggy! 00:55, 8 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Garbage. Already mentioned. MaxSem 06:13, 8 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]
The translation of the name is certainly unwarranted seeing how the implication does not carry through, i.e. Garbage reffers to the police ties, but in other other nation's slang the connection is non-existent. I suggest only "Musor" be mentioned.
Which means what? Wiggy! 18:19, 20 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
means garbage, and is what people call the police. 174.62.167.113 (talk) 01:45, 19 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Dynamo or Dinamo[edit]

Why Dynamo not Dinamo? Динамо is Dinamo. Everton 14:04, 21 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Take a look at their official website. MaxSem 14:16, 21 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Do take a look: http://fcdinamo.ru/

they have registered both. By all Russian transliteration rules i=и, whereas y=ы. Please correct. If you think it's Dynamo because of the English word Dynamo, than Spartak should be Spartacus, Lokomotiv should Locomotive, CSCA, Zenith, etc. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.232.224.241 (talk) 00:06, 1 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

let's change it now! 174.62.167.113 (talk) 01:46, 19 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Danny - Portuguese.[edit]

He isn't Venezuelan. The official Dinamo site says he's Portuguese (http://www.fcdynamo.ru/players.php?id=5&act=info). Now leave it alone, please. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Dansavio (talkcontribs) 17:52, 29 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Dynamo-CSKA rivalry[edit]

While matches between these two teams are important Russian league derbies, there's no actual rivalry. Since Soviet times CSKA and Dynamo fans are viewed as "friends", allied against Spartak and sometimes other Moscow teams like Torpedo. You can see CSKA fans visiting almost every Dynamo home match and vice-versa. I could get some sources, but they will probably be in Russian. 2001:4C28:1:1:5E26:AFF:FEFC:EFD4 (talk) 09:11, 15 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]
