Floor Tom?

Curious, which version introduced a Floor Tom? I've never seen it in pictures of the cabinet, and I'm stuck with a Percussion Freaks 3rd Mix here in Bakersfield. --Poiuytman 00:13, 29 Jan 2005 (UTC)

There was never a version with floor tom, apparently.

This is correct - there was never a floor tom in Drummania. The PC simulator DTXMania does feature it, and this is because the actual drumset used on the machine, the Yahama DTXpress, features a floor tom in the consumer version. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 134.220.250.153 (talk) 11:40, 11 June 2008 (UTC)

Notable songs

鬼姫　(Onihime) (Drummania 10th Mix): Another of the series' hardest songs, Onihime joins The Least 100 Seconds [Extreme], Day Dream [Extreme], Concertino In Blue [Extreme], and Over There [Extreme].

I believe Concertino in Blue and Over There are Level 96 and 97, respectively. they are not level 99, so i'm taking them out of this line. as a matter of fact, Onihime itself was demoted to level 95 in drummania V3. so i'm gonna do a little changing.

also, Taisetsunamono's reason for being notable is a little shallow at best. i'm taking it out for now, unless there's a deeper reason for keeping it--Chemicalist 15:11, 13 November 2006 (UTC)

Which songs are "notable" can always be subject to debate. Akai Suzu and Over There aren't particularly notable in my opinion, there are plenty of jazzy songs and consistent bass/crossovers. Just because Rewrite is popularized by FMA, plenty of other anime/soundtrack songs have appeared in DM before, shouldn't we include those as well then? I'd also like to point out that NGS also differs in arrangement from the original - it's a lot shorter, and also a cover. Taisetsumono IS notable for the fact that it's immensely popular, underrated pre-V3 AND features a video so distinctive people always ask about it. I don't think it's shallow at all. I think somebody should give a better reason for Timepiece phase II to be a notable song. Also, if Timepiece phase II is a notable song, then Concertino in Blue should be as well (since Concertino in Blue is the most voted song for remix back when V3 Soundtrack was in development, more than Timepiece phase II) 124.81.205.23 (talk) 14:27, 20 November 2007 (UTC)

The problem is between experience with people in these games. It largely depends who is playing the machine and how much you actually played on it. For example, songs like Dragon Blade or Believe in Love should bring a bell immdiately to everyone before you list it in Notable Songs. WP:VG Assessment

The fact that this article is rated as B-class shows that the AWB plugin is fallible. It is far from that.

First, the following sections should not be in the article at all. Move the original research and indiscriminate collections of information to a gaming wiki, such as StrategyWiki, Encyclopedia Gamia, GamerWiki, or GameInfo.

• Song list
• Notable songs
• Notable players

The gameplay section is largely a game guide, something Wikipedia is not. It needs to be rewritten. See WP:VG/GL for how to write a better article. Usually I would write about the need for reliable sources and good prose, but this article has larger problems.

See the GuitarFreaks entry - while lacking in credible sources, I find the length and conciseness to be reasonable. The bemani series of games simply aren't popular in the United States as in Asian countries, and as such, do not have substantial coverage from other media sources. As a result, there is no need for a comprehensive Wiki entry on the subject when other game discussion forums have such information. Ckjy 15:21, 27 September 2007 (UTC)

I am extremely disappointed with the removal of the notable songs and notable players information. I had been regularly using this information, and referring to other people to this page for this information. Better explaination of game needed

The article TWICE mentions HAZZARD mode but gives NO indication as to what it is. My understanding is that this is a mode where you automatically fail after 2 misses, but I do not know the full details. This information should really be in here. --Jouva (talk) 01:44, 29 February 2008 (UTC)

Update suggestions

There's a lot of information here, which sould potentially become a very good article, but it needs some cleanup. I've noted some suggestions below on how to imrpove the article further:

• Citations are needed in order to show the importance of this videogame. I can understand that it's successful in Japan, but I'm not sure how well known it is in North America or Europe.
• Possibly rename the article to DrumMania (series)
• I'd look at trimming down the lead paragraph.
• Add a history section to take the reader through the history of DrumMania, from original inception through the various iterations in order to bring the whole story together. Include citations on notable releases.
• Rename the e-Amusement section to indicate online play, such as Online features. I'd also consider condensing this section and removing a lot of the game jargon
• Notable Songs - I'd look at moving this section into the List of songs on Drummania and GuitarFreaks, using markup where appropriate. Otherwise, it makes this article very long and splits song-related information between two articles, which doesn't really make sense to me.
• DTX Simulators I'd rename to DrumMania simulators or similar, to use terms familiar to the reador in the title.

Other than that, good work. Needs more citations, maybe a screenshot of the game in action and references to how it has been reported on by /influenced popular culture. If there's a DrumMania craze that swept the nation or similar that got magazine/newspaper articles, mention it! Hope all this helps, give me a shout if you want me to look through again. WP:VG Assessment

• The large amount of track lists found here earlier is gone, but the track lists still need some work. From what I read here, some of this information may indeed be relevant to the article. However, this section needs references for statements such as "this song was once rated the one of most often played song", "Not one of the most popular but certainly one of the most difficult" and "The arrangement is rarely seen." It is unacceptable to write these things as mere editorial opinion in Wikipedia per WP:Original research. In the interest of structure, I would remove all the version sub-headers and combine paragraphs. Use linking words to create a 'flow', instead of the current, fragmented, approach. In short: show that the notable songs really are notable with sources.
• The external link to GDAmania needs to go, because it's a fansite.. and a Chinese/Japanese one, too. This is the English Wikipedia.
• Gazimoff's suggestions above are good, except the rename suggestion, which is unneeded.
• This article fits the stereotype of a Star-class article. I quote: "Usually treats the gameplay of a game well, but lacks information on the reception and development of the game."
