Location

I vote that "Smallville" should be moved to "Smallville (town)" and that the new "Smallville" article should be what is now called "Smallville (TV Series)".

Precedents:

• Linux is an article about the Operating System "Linux", because that is what people normally refer to when they say Linux, not the kernel "Linux".
• Harry Potter is about the series of books "Harry Potter", not the character of Harry Potter.

I've just written an article on Kelly Brook, a British model who appeared in four episodes of Smallville as the girlfriend of Lex Luthor (season 1?). I don't know the series so don't know if she was a significant character in the series... so don't know whether to link to her from this article. Can any Smallville fans fill me in? As stated in the article, Smallville's location has been vague over the years (though don't believe any source has ever put it in Illinois). Not sure what "DC Universe" is supposed to be (a book?). Anthony Dean 22:51, 16 January 2006 (UTC)

The location was never really nailed down in the comics. Also the location and proximity of Metropolis seems to change quite often. Lois and Clark was one example where Illinois was used as a possible location. The TV show Smallvile REALLY messes around with the locations seemingly. Zip codes, real state abbreviations (with one mistake where KA was used rather than KS) and in one episode you can see Metropolis from a wind milll in Smallvile. In Season 7 the "thief" who kills Grant/Julian while they are in Metropolis calls Lex. The display on Lex's phone reads FROM: 913-555-0195. This is a KCK metropolitan area code. Now of course this doesn't mean that they were in or near Kansas City, but that the cell phone was activated with a 913 area code. Metropolis also has, when convenient, water front and ports as does Edge City. I suggest not trying to nail anything down. Think of it like Springfield, USA from the Simpsons. The trivia book The People's Almanac (1975) included biographies of fictional characters. Superman's bio claimed Kal-El's "rocket landed near Smallville, Ill." I assume the editors had someone from DC provide the information (although that's the only place I've seen Illinois given as the town's home state). The biography is reprinted here. Verify

There are certain things (like the opinions of the towns economy, etc) that actually need sources. Interviews with creators, film makers, etc would be a good call for that type of information. Also, if someone could find online comic books, or atleast reviews about certain comic book information to back up some of the other information that would be good too. Fans know that Lana, Pete and Clark went to Smallville High, but outside readers do not, so we should have a source to actually help back that up. Cleanup and Expand

The article needs some work in the writing department along with an expansion on the town. The article maybe should be broken down into "generic information" that has carried over to every incarnation of the town, and then information that is restricted to certain variations (i.e. how it was in Lois & Clark, how it was in Smallville (the show), how it was in Superboy (the show), the different animated series). I don't know, but I wouldn't think that the Siegel's would have missed that. I mean that was 4 years before Superboy (if the dates are right). There must be some sort of claus excluding that since it technically isn't in the same continuity as "Earth-1". I'm not sure. If it's true then I say, great find, but it's kind of hard to verify personal websites, especially when almost every other source agrees that Superboy has the first instance of Smallville. Then again, I think what is being said is that the first time Smallville was crowned Clark's home was in Superboy, not the first time it is mentioned, at least I think that's what the Siegels are arguing. Smallville Citizens

I think a list of former and current Smallville citizens would be very noteable. Heck, Martian Manhunter was once a citizen.

Also a history of the danged place. It has a rich and colorful history, well established, elaborated and danged interesting. For example, Bruce Wayne, as a child, traveled through it. Lots42 05:24, 25 October 2007 (UTC)

Delaware Bay proximity does not support the Maryland location

From the article:

The Maryland location was supported in the actual comics with a map of Smallville and the surrounding area that was published in New Adventures of Superboy #22 (October 1981), which situated Smallville a few miles west of a large bay very similar to Delaware Bay...

I have lived in Maryland and Delaware, but it only takes a glance at a map to see that any location "a few miles west of...Delaware Bay" cannot possibly be in Maryland, as Maryland is not adjacent to Delaware Bay. The only two states that bank the Bay are Delaware (west and south) and New Jersey (north and east). Did you perhaps mean the Chesapeake Bay? Notability

Why is there a notability warning on the article?
