Proposal: Rename page[edit]

Hi all, I think "Communism in Christianity" would be a better title. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Anti-Plantinga (talkcontribs) 11:18, 4 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

  • Comment: Hi Anti-Plantinga, I think this merits discussion, but should have a clear consensus prior to a move. Davide King may want to join this discussion.  // Timothy :: talk  12:46, 4 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • Disagree: I respectfully disagree. I think that Christian Communism, "based upon the view that the teachings of Jesus Christ compel Christians to support religious communism", is a common name & is different from Communism in Christianity. I think the former describes communistic practices as emerging from Christian beliefs, whereas the latter would be more the interaction of the two, as in Liberation theology. My elaboration Thank you all for your contributions to the discussion. I think the name "Christian communism" sounds like a proper name/technical term/jargon... but it is precisely because it sounds jargon-ish that I believe that it should not be used as the title. https://churchlifejournal.nd.edu/articles/the-sources-of-early-christian-communism/ Is the only article I found that used the phrase "Christian communism", so I think we shouldn't use it. Peaceray, thank you for your comments too; you pointed out that I think the phrase "communism in Christianity", just like "Christian communism" (but as I mentioned above I think it should not be the title), shows "communistic practices as emerging from Christian beliefs", and lives up to what you would like.

Please let me know if I misunderstood anyone or anything. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Anti-Plantinga (talkcontribs) 14:13, 12 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

  • Also disagree: The phrase "Christian communism" is used by some extensive studies on the topic, for example the book "Red Theology: On the Christian Communist Tradition" [1]. Yes, this is a small school of thought, but it is a distinct school of thought. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Ztbr (talkcontribs) 19:10, 12 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Appreciation for the articles Note: on Marx[edit]

It would be nice to see this more often!!! It so benefits encyclopedia readers to see quotes like this given with a note simply explaining the position of an author within a metaphor. 172.103.198.76 (talk) 21:19, 16 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Possible confusion[edit]

I don't know how to edit this but maybe we should add an "not to be confused with Christian Socialism" 2A02:8071:5070:8880:C02B:761C:84EC:7555 (talk) 11:20, 5 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
