Copyvio?[edit]

Offhand this looks to me like one big copyvio. At least part of it comes from [1]. Has anyone looked into the history of the Spanish-language article we are translating? Did anyone in the Spanish-language Wikipedia demonstrate having a right to this material? -- Jmabel | Talk 03:46, May 10, 2005 (UTC)

Yeah it reads a bit like a travel brochure. Why is such an article the translation of the week? --Tothebarricades.tk 02:49, May 11, 2005 (UTC)
I set up the article as translation of the week because it had the most votes. The Tijuana article had the same number of votes, but has already been translated for the most part. No one raised any concerns about this article while it was on the nomination page. — J3ff 03:20, 12 May 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Organization[edit]

I think I was hasty in turning the bold headings of the "places of interest" section into page subheadings, in view of the fact that the article on the plaza is all about the church and vice versa. In fact, I think the whole article could stand a serious reorganization, once we have it mostly translated and know what we're dealing with.--Dell Adams 21:13, 14 May 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Linking to other articles[edit]

Dragon tree[edit]

Someone earlier contributed a link to the article Drago; my new version supersedes that and links to Dragon tree, which redirects to Dracaena, a much fuller article. I'm new here, and don't have much of a sense of how I ought to have done this or what remains to be done. --Dell Adams 20:14, 14 May 2005 (UTC)[reply]

The link's fixed. You can look at the source, but here's how it's done:
[[Dracaena (Plant)|Dragon tree]]
This links directly to "Dracaena (Plant)" instead of redirecting there from "Dragon tree". Redirects are to be avoided if possible, because they use up more server resources than direct links. The editing help page (also linked on every edit page) has an overview of most, if not all, of the markup if you want to learn more. --Skoosh 08:43, 5 Jun 2005 (UTC)
I've moved 'Drago' to Dracaena draco and expanded the page, and the link here now goes to Dracaena draco again - MPF 13:53, 22 Jun 2005 (UTC)

Getting it encyclopedic[edit]

Vulcane section[edit]

I deleted the Vulcane section, because it seemed to me to be both POV and not quite to the point of what Vulcane is (a periodical review of poetry and literature published in Icod). Here is the original paragraph, with my translation:

Vulcane ::: Cartón de Cultura

===Vulcane -- Cartoon of Culture===

Vulcane began its journey at the beginning of 2003, and so far has published, in accordance with its initial project, five issues: No. 1 in January 2003, No. 2 in May 2003, No. 3 in September 2003, No. 4 in January 2004, and No. 5 in March 2004. New cultural needs and the very warm welcome our publication has received among its readers and friends has obliged us to renew the frequency and scope of the printing. With the onset of the new year we have decided to try publishing five times a year, as is described in the Frequency of Release section of the Estimate of Annual Expenditures.

There is actually another paragraph on the Vulcane section of the source site, which would serve us better as a starting point at least, if it's decided that Vulcane is an important enough publication to have its own section in the Icod article:

Vulcane is not a magazine, but a boxful of poetry and literary culture intended for an attentive, intensive and comfortable read. Its graphic design, exquisitely crafted in its details, whitespace, typefaces and constructivist clarity, has its principal models in the best modern magazines of the Canary Islands. In this sense, Vulcane comes very close to the aesthetic and graphic design aspirations of magazines such as Espiral (Switzerland) or Gaceta de Arte (Canary Islands), both born in the womb of the modern vanguard of the 1920s and 1930s.

--Skoosh 09:10, 5 Jun 2005 (UTC)

  • Deleted the "Publications" section as well, since it was empty. --Skoosh 03:13, 12 Jun 2005 (UTC)

Hostelería section[edit]

Deleted. The original source material had the tone of a tourist-brochure and was devoid of any real, useful content. The original and my (incomplete) translation below:

== Hostelería ==

Blacklisted Links Found on the Main Page[edit]

Cyberbot II has detected that page contains external links that have either been globally or locally blacklisted. Links tend to be blacklisted because they have a history of being spammed, or are highly innappropriate for Wikipedia. This, however, doesn't necessarily mean it's spam, or not a good link. If the link is a good link, you may wish to request whitelisting by going to the request page for whitelisting. If you feel the link being caught by the blacklist is a false positive, or no longer needed on the blacklist, you may request the regex be removed or altered at the blacklist request page. If the link is blacklisted globally and you feel the above applies you may request to whitelist it using the before mentioned request page, or request it's removal, or alteration, at the request page on meta. When requesting whitelisting, be sure to supply the link to be whitelisted and wrap the link in nowiki tags. The whitelisting process can take its time so once a request has been filled out, you may set the invisible parameter on the tag to true. Please be aware that the bot will replace removed tags, and will remove misplaced tags regularly.

Below is a list of links that were found on the main page:

  • http://www.cuevadelviento.net/inicio.php?ix=1&id=eng
