The breathless POV of this article needs major toning down. RickK 06:04, Mar 31, 2005 (UTC)

OK now? Parmesan 22:37, 3 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

I dont see why it needs a tone down, Dar Robinson beat 9 world records & 21 first! to this day there have only been stuntmen who have met his level but none to pass according to stunts in the academic world. Wow!! 19 years since his death and none as great to follow, but many to use his invention the decelerator, a few even tried to steal the credit!! Left me breathless!!

---

Didn't he also take part in the film "live an die in L.A."? He played this albino killer AFAIK.

IMDB shows that he did stunts in To Live and Die in L.A. (1985), but no role. PKT 23:18, 21 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

death details[edit]

I mention the following only because I happened on this page following a link from an unrelated website: The article text indicates that Dar died jumping off a cliff. In a way it doesn't matter how one dies, it's the death itself that's obviously important, certainly regarding his family and friends. However, based on the PD report in LA times from that period, they describe something different. For accuracy, this might want to be rechecked (my source: http://articles.latimes.com/1986-11-23/local/me-12688_1_chase-scene)

cleanup particulars[edit]

His invention of the decelerator and its display in Arizona need both particularization and verification. The only verifiable reference I find is the "Bates Decelerator" attributed to stuntman Kenny Bates which may not be the same thing or may be an improvement on Robinsons' Decelerator. It would also be useful to list which world records Robinson holds and which world firsts he accomplished. Digitalican 17:30, 8 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Papillon (1973)[edit]

In THE ULTIMATE STUNTMAN (A Tribute to Dar Robinson - 1987) (Youtube) the 100 ft jump to the sea bellow in the end of the film is credited to Dar Robinson but a document film of Steve McQueen says he did it himself. So who did the jump?--RicHard-59 (talk) 09:35, 7 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]
