was established in 1920 under the testament of Georgios Maraslis who wanted to provide a school in Greece as a parallel to the Lauzane School of Business.

Greece's Prime Minister Eleutherios Benizelos brought professor George Pagiar from the University of Lauzane to establish the school and be the first dean. Today AUEB is a modern university. It has provided more economics and management graduates during its history than any other university or business school.
