Walkthrough[edit]

What exactly was the 'walk-through' attraction at Disneyland's castle? I haven't visited the park so I wouldn't know, but I thought it was just walking through the castle like you can at the Magic Kingdom and other parks. Speedway 17:49, 3 Jan 05

There are doors on either side of the castle that actually contain a stairway that goes up and over the archway. There were diaramas of the story of Sleeping Beauty. You then went down stairs and out the otherside of the archway. It was closed because it was more of a make out room than an attraction. Bytebear 06:15, 29 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

This article should be heavily de-blurbified. It's an encyclopedia, not a brochure or a Disney forum post.

Weasel words, NPOV[edit]

"but many feel the smallness gives the castle a quaint charm" "it is regarded as the most visually stunning" This sort of thing does not belong on Wikipedia. This article should be heavily rewritten. I mean honestly, "it is regarded as the most visually stunning"?! What were you thinking? This isn't MiceAge.

Hong Kong Version[edit]

Can anyone provide more information about the Hong Kong version of Sleeping Beauty Castle? I would assume that it may be taller and even larger than the original in Anaheim to avoid using forced perspective. 67.120.74.232 21:50, 3 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Merge?[edit]

Must this article be merged with the one in Paris, really? I will personally only agree with this if all Disney castles are merged into a single page, since Le Chateau is no less different from the Anaheim/Hong Kong versions than Cinderella Castle. Furthermore, the article for Le Chateau is relatively well written and cites its sources, which can't be said for the other two. If they are going to be merged, some rewriting is in order. Strange Coding Error[edit]

About the Drawbridge[edit]

The article says :

he drawbridge of the castle used to be functional but was rarely used. It has only been publicly lowered on two occasions: when the park opened in 1955, and when Fantasyland was rededicated in 1983. The gears that control the drawbridge were removed during a refurbishment in 1996 and have not been replaced.[citation needed]

Logo Use[edit]

The part about Sleeping Beauty's Castle being used as Disney's label is completely wrong. It is Cinderella's Castle that is used for the logos. Note the color, the elongated towers and their positioning. They are a dead giveaway. The logo usage is not incorrect, but neither is it clear. The logo usage might refer to the CGI image that is shown in the beginning of Walt Disney Pictures movies, or the logo for Walt Disney Parks and Resorts. In either case, these logos are composite images of Disney's various castles, albiet principally based upon Cinderella Castle (Florida and Tokyo). Neither of these logos is the same as the other, nor does either match one of the theme parks' castles. Golden spike not the center of Disneyland[edit]

Contrary to popular belief, the golden spike at the back of Sleeping Beauty castle is not the center of Disneyland and never was. It is really just a surveyors marker that was used to make sure the castle lined up with Main Street. Even with the additions of toontown and New Orleans Square, it is still not the center of the park. It is merely a very popular rumor that is carried on by Disneyland fans and Cast members. The first source posted is the one that best describes it, and uses diagrams to prove it. As such, I suggest the section of the article that says the golden spike being "the center" be removed, because it is simply not true. That section of the article also has no sources cited to prove its point.

"Snow White Castle"[edit]

Near the beginning of this article, it states that Sleeping Beauty Castle was previously known as Snow White Castle. It's uncited and not mentioned anywhere else in the article, and a quick search online is only leading me to forum posts of people stating that this is the case and no actual sources. Neuschwanstein Castle[edit]

It is stated here that the "primary inspiration" for the Sleeping Beauty Castle was the Neuschwanstein Castle in Germany. This information is also given in the Neuschwanstein Castle's article (and all over the web, copied from Wikipedia). However, a single source is given.

Edit: the source originally given is a MA dissertation that states something else ("heavily influenced", no mention of "primary source"). Besides, the cited work is actually about Le Château de la Belle au Bois Dormant (Disneyland Paris). Curiously, a proper reference to the building of Sleeping Beauty Castle was given on the article about Le Château de la Belle au Bois Dormant... (*sigh*) (On the other hand, the source used here previously actually describes the forced perspective in detail, so rather than removing it, I moved to a few sentences later.)
