Sausage Roll flavour?[edit]

Pot Noodle Company?[edit]

As I understand it, Pot Noodle is made by Unilever. However the article refers to the Pot Noodle Company. What is the realtion between these companies? (I believe the packaging says something like "Pot Noodle is a registered trademark of the Pot Noodle Company and Bestfoods UK (Part of Unilever)". Any ideas?

In reply, my scrumtious Pot Noodle chicken and mushroom says:

Pot [WTF!?], Pot Noodle and The Pot Noodle Snack Company are trademarks. Unilever Bestfood UK, Brooke House, Crawley, RH10 9RQ UK.

Expansion[edit]

Pots of the World?[edit]

I see no mention of the short lived Pots of the World editions. I can't remember enough about them to contribute but I remember the delicious szechaun chicken flavour!

Public Acceptance[edit]

Where is the obligatory [citation needed] tag for the claim that is has become any sort of favourite?

Similarly, the 44.6% statistic is lifted directly from Unilever's own site, and is analogous to original research.

I've done as much as I can for the moment. I will check back in a day or two and if there are no cited sources for the lists of ads and their notability, or the popular culture and "social stigma of pot noodle" then I will hack those out. If anyone has sources,please cite them. I hope this edit helps it along a bit. I lived on Ramen (the US equivalent) for quite a few years during my apprenticeship, and I now absolutely can't even smell the stuff without feeling sick. Nothing like a Nissin Cup Noodle[edit]

Is it really accurate to say that Pot Noodle is a brand of "cup noodles (ramen-style snack)"?

A Nissin Cup Noodle (or similar), from what I've seen of them, is a sort of noodle soup, where the noodles are swimming around in liquid; you evidently have to eat the noodles with a fork then drink the rest. A Pot Noodle, on the other hand, is semi-solid in consistency, and can be eaten entirely using a fork with no liquid left over. The flavourings and noodle types are also very different.

A Pot Noodle looks absolutely nothing like what is shown on the ramen page, whereas a Cup Noodle does.

The only things these snacks really have in common is that (a) they contain noodles and (b) they are prepared by pouring boiling water over them. 217.155.20.163 21:47, 22 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I second that. In other countries such as the US it's hard to find anything like a pot noodle, cup noodles typically tend to be noodles in a watery soup. UK Market Entry[edit]

Not Crumlin - it was Croespenmaen (near Crumlin) - and the UK tailoring was conducted by Crown Noodle Co. in Croespenmaen (then run by Bombay Emporium). Crown Noodle had been making packet noodles for some time prior to their involvement with Pot Noodles. Source: my wife - she was the Quality Controller at Crown Noodle then and now lives in secret in Thame in Lord Williams' School.

Scares and Recalls?[edit]

Is it worth mentioning that Pot Noodle (albeit only one flavour) was involved in the Sudan I scare^[1], and also there was a recall due to faulty packaging in 2003?

What about a mention of when a shipment was refused entry into france (Beef and Tomatoe Falvour) due to foot and mouth fears, when there is no beef in a Pot noodle? might fall under trivia but if we're going to have a scares and recall section...

Needed Improvements[edit]

I've gone over the article a bit with some additions, including a variations section. Here's what i think needs doing to improve the article further, if anyone has time:

references for flavours/variations (the info i got was just from other articles)
dates of introduction/discontinuation for the different flavours
information on their marketing campaigns - Not Poodle, the horn, fuel of Britain
info on the recent reduction in fat and salt
changing from lists to being more prose

Also the statement that 'all varieties contain Monosodium Glutamate in the ingredients list' is plainly wrong - just look at the ingredients next time you're in the supermarket. (some do, sure, but not all). joemattinson, 17:21 UTC January 15th 2009
