2021 E-book: Magical Venice[edit]

I'm now writing travel guides in the form of E-books presenting "the soul of the places", I mean, digital books meant to be not boring traditional guides, but informal guides with a slight literary touch and lots of beautiful pics, many of them taken by myself over the years in several trips.

The first one, called "Magical Venice", covers the splendid city of Venice, Italy, which is truly magical. Others will come.

2007 Academic paper[edit]

In December 2007, I have concluded a lengthy academic paper (in Portuguese) on the issue of truth in the journalistic discourse. Among other topics, the work covers:

  • Factors that may affect truth in Journalism – the influence of advertisers and its consequences (for instance Big Tobacco), the influence of governments, the influence of sources, media concentration, problems with sources during wartime and sources in the government, lobbying (for example on global warming), prepackaged news, individual ethical deviation, reduction and simplification of multifaceted facts, the journalistic omission of relevant facts, the truth in reporting versus the truth of the facts.
  • Language, accuracy and truth – the possibility of manipulation of language, problems with language, truth as referential, the definition of terrorism, the definition of pedophilia (disinformation, legal offenses, and conflicting views).
  • Case study – the treatment given by the Brazilian media to the debate over changing or not the age of criminal responsibility in Brazil; the interest of the media in news production – real or simulacrum ?.

Contributions in Wikipedia (up to 2007)[edit]

I was then researching the following topics and was willing to collaborate with Wikipedia on articles that have something to do with them:

    • Thank you for the tip. This link is unsourced, however, provides another link to an article by the British paper "Daily Mail", which is: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/pages/live/articles/health/healthmain.html?in_article_id=385968&in_page_id=1774&in_a_source=&ct=5 Maybe you would like to know that in Brazil alone some 15,000 girls a year become pregnant at ages 10 to 11, according to IBGE, a national gov-based institute that functions as a primary reference for stats in general. In some poor areas, early pregnancy is sometimes seen as a source of social status and recognition or a symbol of "emancipation" from the family. It is not known however how often this happens.User:Paulo Andrade 03:08 GMT, 10 March 2007
