Change done by anonymous user[edit]

The revision made by 62.188.4.34. Changed "... form of a unitary authority, although not with the same borders as before ..." to "... form of a unitary authority, with the same borders as before ..." this is a complete 180 degree change but I know nothing about this area and do not know which one is factual.

I don't know. They seem to be doing excellent work on other articles. Morwen 18:06, Feb 20, 2004 (UTC)

Merger with History of Herefordshire[edit]

There's a proposal on History of Herefordshire that it should be merged with this article.
I'm against for reasons given on Talk:History of Herefordshire. --Cavrdg 18:50, 10 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Poly Tunnel?[edit]

There seems to be no Wikipedia entry on poly tunnel even though the article seems to assume that the reader will know about this strawberry growing technology. Is this perhaps a British term for something known by another name elsewhere? I'm American myself, so please be patient with my linguistic quirks. Wyvern 23:47, 6 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, Polytunnel does exist as a stub. Feel free to expand it ;-) I've added Poly tunnel as a redirect to Polytunnel and changed the article to link there. --Cavrdg 06:39, 7 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Aha! Thank you; this clarifies things for non-rural North American types. (I think I've seen that, now that there's a hint.) Wyvern 06:19, 9 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Boroughs and Districts[edit]

What and where are the boroughs and districts in Herefordshire? Simply south 18:06, 2 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Herefordshire has no boroughs or districts. It is a unitary district itself. David 18:30, 7 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The SAS[edit]

There is no mention of the SAS here. Anyone else find this strange?

The Hereford Bull[edit]

I agree that no mention of the SAS is indeed odd, more so is the Hereford Breed of cattle - Hereford (Cattle). Whatever nationality of person I talk to, whenever the subject of Hereford is raised, it is a consistent topic. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 58.106.11.22 (talk) 02:17, 7 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Education Section[edit]

I find a lot of this section to be subjective about which are good/bad schools, especially as it fails to mention that Hereford Cathedral is private —Preceding unsigned comment added by 87.194.245.1 (talk) 20:46, 22 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:EH icon.png[edit]

Image:EH icon.png is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Authority or district?[edit]

I'm a bit confused here. Is Herefordshire a 'Unitary authority' or a 'Unitary district'. Properly it means the same, but according this web page it is a Unitary authority, so maybe better change it to this? --Jeroenvrp (talk) 23:38, 3 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I've just added a constitution section that explains this hopefully.
Herefordshire is a 'Unitary authority', a 'Non-metropolitan district', and a 'Non-metropolitan county' all at the same time. Oli 18:30 GMT, 1 July 2008 —Preceding comment was added at 15:14, 1 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Notable People[edit]

Notable as he may be in a macabre way, I don't think the fact that he was the subject of a media obsession for a few months some years ago gives Fred West sufficient importance to merit a mention in this list. I think criminal notoriety becomes culturally significant only if it lasts a number of decades or perhaps even longer. Mr West may yet recede from our collective memories into the obscurity that he surely deserves. I suggest his listing should be removed for now, but I won't do it myself without a consensus of support. Lowmie (talk) 21:17, 2 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

His name still comes up in the media when they want a personification of evil, so I think he rates as notable at present.Cavrdg (talk) 13:07, 3 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I would also suggest leaving it in there. I think Notability in Wikipedia, as it relates to inclusion criteria, can mean either good or bad people. --Kudpung (talk) 19:30, 28 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I question the inclusion of Australian cricketer Shane Warne in the list - demonstration of his living in the county wanted.Cloptonson (talk) 06:49, 4 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]
The connection is trivial and not notable. Apparently according to media reports see here before Warne and Liz Hurley split up they purchased a property in Herefordshire. The house was being refurbished prior to them taking up residence but is now the subject of legal settlement. Agree it needs removing.Tmol42 (talk) 13:09, 4 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

References[edit]

Rather too much of this article still needs references, particularly the agriculture section. Without them, the text appears to be a clear case of WP:OR. or WP:POV, and as such, the offending items can be deleted.--Kudpung (talk) 19:25, 28 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

B class?[edit]

The article still requires rather alot of cleaning up, additional sources, more illustrations, and expansion to some sections. I can't quite see it as being B class - or even C class. Start class maybe. Apparently there is no Wikipedia project for Herefordshire that can look into these issues at a more specialised, local level.--Kudpung (talk) 19:34, 28 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Wiki project[edit]

Is anyone interested in creating aWiki project for Herefordshire? At the moment the 'caretakers' appear to be from the neighjbouring Worcestershire county project at WP:WORCS.

Without knowing about this note I raised the issue of a WikiProject for Herefordshire at the Worcs project aslk page yesterday. I'm happy to help get a WP:Herefordshire off the ground. The county has an interesting and important history in the UK, and there are a lot of Herefordshire related articles which could do with some attention. I'm happy to help get the project off the ground and will create some pages in the next few days. If anyone else is interested please drop me a line or post a reply here. Cheers TheRetroGuy (talk) 20:30, 12 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I've started a very basic page for WikiProject Herefordshire to get it up and running. Feel free to help if you can. Cheers TheRetroGuy (talk) 19:26, 16 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Eurostat district[edit]

Is the fact Herefordshire is part of a region called NUTS 3 for 'EUROSTAT' purposes mentionable any more? Did obligation for this country to provide statistics to a European authority cease with Brexit?Cloptonson (talk) 14:36, 22 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
