Anachronistic "Turkey" reference[edit]

The phrase, "1912 – First Balkan War begins: Montenegro declares war against Turkey" doesn't make sense because Turkey wasn't established until 1922 (de jure) or 1923 (de facto) or at the very earliest 1919 (start of post-Armistice fighting). At the time the political entity was still known as the Ottoman Empire. I will change the phrase to reflect this, unless someone can find specific wording in Montenegro's declaration of war that uses "Turkey" or "Turks." — Preceding unsigned comment added by 130.188.8.27 (talk) 06:33, 8 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Battle of Angamos[edit]

I think the Battle of Angamos in 1879 during the War of the Pacific should be included in the dates shown on the Main Page. In Peru, the 8th of October is Navy day because of this battle (and to a lesser extent because it is the day the Navy was founded), where Admiral Miguel Grau died. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 201.230.207.96 (talk) 00:54, 10 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

yum kippur war date fact is misleading[edit]

it highlights a rare defeat during the yum kippur war. the war is considered to be a modest victory over the arab nations. i dont understand why the date references a defeat when it should include a defeat over the arab countries. wikipedia bias much?

holidays and observances Che Guevera[edit]

The linked-to articles do not justify this date. I won't argue here about the whimsical nature of this, but why Oct 8 instead of Oct 9? --Richardson mcphillips (talk) 11:12, 8 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

you're right, I'll take it out unless there is a good reason to keep it in. --142.163.194.161 (talk) 10:38, 8 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Thanksgiving in Canada is the second Monday of October, so it should be mentioned here like Columbus Day in the USA. --142.163.194.161 (talk) 10:41, 8 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

correct date?[edit]

the Wikipedia page says cats premiered on October 7; why is it listed on October 8? Mlcred (talk) 22:33, 8 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Dmitry Polyansky[edit]

He wasn't the first deputy. He was the 15th. Aminabzz (talk) 16:13, 22 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

He was the 15th First Deputy Premier of the Soviet Union. The entry is correct. Kiwipete (talk) 03:24, 23 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
