Shouldn't this be "Meter (disambiguation)" since all of the uses can be spelled "meter" whereas only some of them can be spelled "metre"? Gene Nygaard 18:33, 27 Dec 2004 (UTC)

No, this is not an article but a disambiguation page; see WP:MOSDAB. It merely has to provide a link to the article someone is looking for and distinguish it. Any extraneous info about vocabulary and spelling merely detracts from its function.

AISI this is helping with its purpose - if you come across "metre", it helps that little bit with the disambiguation process (and with telling whether the word is misspelt) if one knows which of the meanings has that spelling. At least what I'm about to do is better than what's there at the moment, which implies first that the variant spellings apply to all meanings, then that it applies only to the first, neither of which is the case. -- Smjg (talk) 09:58, 4 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I know many people would agree that "meter maid" is a sexist term, but can it really be stated as fact in a Wiki? I mean, it's still rather a matter of opinion. UnDeadGoat 12 Jan 05
