The Ernest Brown link is wrong, but not being an avid Wikipedia editor, I don't know how to fix it. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 204.52.215.67 (talk) 00:02, 10 May 2005 (UTC)[reply]

content[edit]

some discussion should be had as to what content should be displayed on the page...most of the following likely does not belong, but some of the info may be notable.

  • should a list of all-star appearances exist
  • should news reporting on the quality of the draft or the players exist (i.e draft bust, 'less heralded' drafts)

This draft has one of the less-heralded first rounds in NBA draft history, with only three all-star appearance (first overall pick Kenyon Martin appeared for the Eastern conference in 2004, Jamaal Magloire, and Michael Redd), as of the end of the 2006 season. Although Kenyon Martin (1) and Darius Miles (3) have achieved moderate "star power", and 2001 rookie of the year Mike Miller (5) has begun to emerge as a solid starter in the past few years, this draft has had its fair share of disappointments. Stromile Swift (2) has been called one of the worst 2nd picks ever [1], and Marcus Fizer (4) is considered one of the bigger "draft busts" in recent memory and is out of the league. (Martin's and Miles' careers are now in jeopardy due to knee injuries.) [2][3] Former high school standout DerMarr Johnson (6) played adequately in his first two years before getting involved in a major car accident, and only returned to the league in 2005 as a bench player. While Chris Mihm (7), Jamal Crawford (8) and Joel Przybilla (9) have settled in as solid backups, highly-touted Keyon Dooling (10) has been fairly disappointing, and Mateen Cleaves (14), the NCAA Most Outstanding Player of 2000 and two-time Big Ten Player of the Year, never averaged more than 5 points per game and is out of the league. Highly touted big man Jerome Moiso (11) and thought-to-be potential all-star Courtney Alexander (13) are also out of the league. Two surprisingly strong players from this draft have been Desmond Mason (17), who has averaged 13 PPG for his career, and Michael Redd (43), who has blossomed into one of the league's elite shooting guards and garnered an All-Star selection (as well as an All-NBA Third Team selection) in 2004. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Mwhope (talkcontribs) 11:25, 16 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Could a comment that less all stars can mean more, not less quality, not be put in? The absence of all stars and popular choices often if not always hints at decisions based on skill and worthiness rather than just public profile. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 87.254.83.201 (talk) 09:44, 10 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
