Untitled[edit]

This is not a stub article. It contains, more or less, the sum total of information about this one character who appears in one attraction in one theme park. There's not much more you could say about him unless you wanted to start summarizing the ride itself. Brian Kendig 22:17, 7 Apr 2004 (UTC)

Is he really magenta?[edit]

Is there any truth to Figment actually being magenta. I ask because magenta is not a real color (I'm a physicist trust me)real colors can be made of a pure frequency, magenta is the color our mind creates when our yellow and blue cone receptors are simulated in our eyes. Therefore making magenta a FIGMENT of our imagination. If anyone was going to make an inside joke that is related to science it would be Disney. Is it against Disney policy to reproduce pictures of him or the ride here?

First Appearance[edit]

I'm pretty sure that Figment's first appearance in something (not in the attraction itself, just presented) was at Magic Journeys, per [1]. However, Magic Journeys was open until 1986, and they could have added Figment on to the opening after Journey Into Imagination started. 1ne 04:28, 15 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

No, Figment was just on the sign of the attraction. Magic Journeys was actually wholly unrelated to JII, about a group of kids exploring their dreams. There was actually a Dreamfinder based 3D film that was made in case Magic Journeys wasn't ready in time, but in the end was never used. Irrelevant stuff[edit]

Where are the sources for any of this?[edit]

In this paragraph:

"In the current version, Figment's creativity has a bit of a larger effect on the world around him, be it transforming a large smell emitting machine into a slot machine, turning his house upside down, actually rearranging an otherwise static eye chart, and transforming the Institute into something almost reminiscent of the original in the finale. He also has some sort of access to hammerspace, pulling a pair of glasses out of thin air to put onto Dr. Channing into the introduction and quickly changing into a skunk costume in the Smell Lab. He also seems to possess some powers of size changing with him being able to shrink down enough to possibly be able to sit on Channing's shoulder, but with his regular height being between two and three feet tall and he has what can be seen as either a teleportation ability or powers of invisibility, disappearing in a burst of clouds when Channing wanted him "out of his sight" at the end of the first scene."

The first sentence is OK to an extent, as this is what you do see in the attraction (albeit this is unsourced), though the last bit about transforming the last room is clearly "synthesized" by whoever wrote this. But where did the references to "hammerspace," "teleportation," "invisibility" etc. come from (particularly the hammerspace bit, this was the most troubling one since it's linked to another article, which has nothing to do with Disney and seems like a fanboy/self-promotion kind of thing). Seeing as there is no source for any of this, this is clearly a fan-written collection of original research crafted together. I propose this all be deleted...especially the hammerspace part. That is such a specific term that it would imply the Imagineers and anyone else involved in Figment's creation actually had that in mind as an explanation for his actions. Seeing as that is clearly not the case (or else this would be cited) this should be deleted. I can surely imagine someone seeing this here, using it as a source for another article somewhere, and it being perpetuated over and over.
