Howard Wierum, the third actor to play Columbo[edit]

This article mentions the stage play, first performed on January 2, 1962. Was this test performance or something, because it supposedly had its world premier on January 15, 1962. The play was originally called RX:Murder, but eventually the producer decided there would be a film version of it, and as there had been a film already of that title the play was renamed Prescription Murder. Thomas Mitchel became ill and had to have an operation and decided to retire permanently (the play's run did not end due to his sad death), then his understudy, Howard Wierum, who had up until then played a minor role in the play, became Lt. Columbo, playing the role maybe three quarters of the play's run compared to the shorter time Thomas Mitchel played Columbo. Middle More Rider (talk) 23:46, 26 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
