Talk:Rules of the road in China

This may be the worst article I've ever read on Wikipedia. Almost no sources whatsoever, broad generalizations that conveniently play into common beliefs about China. Honestly it reads like a journal entry written by someone who lived in China for a few years and thinks they "understand Chinese culture". — Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.49.92.55 (talk) 01:02, 10 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

This article is entirely about mainland China, am I right? — Instantnood 17:45, May 16, 2005 (UTC)

Yes. It only covers the mainland. There are as yet uncreated entries for Rules of the road in Hong Kong and Rules of the road in Macau. --Fazdeconta 06:06, 20 May 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Is there ANY evidence of the rumour about left-hand driving in China during the "Cultural revolution"? Anders Hanquist, Sweden

I am unsure, but it seems probably true.--Jusjih 15:29, 11 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Here is a text which, deservedly, has gained a lot of attention, and possibly given this article lots of readers: "Why drivers in China intentionally kill the pedestrians they hit." http://www.slate.com/articles/news_and_politics/foreigners/2015/09/why_drivers_in_china_intentionally_kill_the_pedestrians_they_hit_china_s.html The weird subject ought to be covered in the article, urban legend or (as unlikely as it sounds) not. "Drive on the Right"[edit]

This article is very strange. For instance "the convention has been to drive on the right". This is not true. Right side driving has been in force throughout the country only since 1946. There could have been different rules in different parts of China before that. But there are lots of pictures showing left side driving in big cities, e.g. Shanghai. https://www.alamy.com/stock-photo-shanghai-china-in-march-1936-view-of-the-bund-and-the-financial-district-59781121.html http://www.inniskillingsmuseum.com/regimental-band-leads-the-march-through-the-international-settlement-shanghai/ --Andhanq (talk) 10:11, 4 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
