Uncle Sam[edit]

according to the Uncle Sam page, the origin of the figure is unknown, so i added alleged. however, i have no clue if this page is right, or the uncle sam one

also, it should be added why he is the source

I added the ref. to the book "Uncle Sam" according to which there seems to be no proof for this. Of course, it's dated 1908. Kwikwag (talk) 00:10, 21 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Decendents[edit]

I'm curious to see if he has any living decendents. If you have any information on that please post it on here.

Assuming all his four kids survived to have children of their own, and an average of 3 kids for the 12 generations (fairly conservative for 1800s and most of the 1900s even factoring in infant mortality, as you have TFR of around 7 in the early 1800s), you would expect something like 2m descendants. Obviously knowing the first couple of generations fate would get a much better estimate, but it is going to be a very large number after that many generations. --86.161.73.164 (talk) 00:37, 16 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I know of at least 4 living descendants (myself as well as my mother, grandmother, and uncle). I'll be happy to talk more about it privately. Mantrius (talk) 21:13, 30 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, there are descendants. We're not, like, as numerous as the stars in the heavens or anything like that, but we're around.  :-) Nothing very special about us; to the best of my knowledge none of us are industrial meat packers. 24.166.211.194 (talk) 06:31, 13 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]
