There are many things listed in Handicrafts. It seems that home made cards are combinations of these. This article is promotional, but the question is whether this is an encyclopedic topic (hence clean up) or just a particular application of skills discussed elsewhere? • Merge and redirect to appropriate article (greeting card maybe). -Sean Curtin 19:08, 19 Aug 2004 (UTC)
  • Delete. There's no apparent encyclopaedic content about this particular craft. If it were ever to belong anywhere, it'd probably be a How-To in Wikibooks. -- WOT 19:50, 19 Aug 2004 (UTC)

I started writing this when I had a spare half-hour at work. I didn't get very far, but can you give me a week or so to get it into shape, then reconsider whether it is 'encyclopedic'? I agree that this might eventually belong somewhere between handicrafts and greeting card. But there isn't currently a wikipedia article on the latter and I wanted to add something on a specific topic that I knew about. I'm new to Wiki, so how about giving me a chance to finish the article before cutting me off in my prime as it were? Rob

    • No one is trying to cut you off. The topic, however, "Handmade cards," seemed to logically fall between positions. I, certainly, reconsider my vote on the last day (5 days) on VfD and change my vote if the article has changed. My question is more to do with the category and logical position than the content. I've just added quite a bit more, in particular a section on the history of handmade greeting cards. This might logically belong as a sub-section of a much longer piece on greeting cards in general, but, as I said before, there isn't currently a wikipedia entry on that topic. Apologies if I 'snapped' a bit before - I should have made it much clearer from the outset that it was just the very start of an article. Rob

    • How do you feel about starting a greeting card article or greeting cards? Even if it's terribly incomplete at the start and goes quickly to your content, someone can come along and fix it later. It's better than leaving a gap, and your material would go well in there. • Keep, but possibly rename as cardmaking under which name workshops in the craft are often advertised. (My partner runs a crafts and creativity training company). While it borrows techniques from a number of other papercrafts, including stamping, paper tole, scrapbooking and even découpage, I would regard it as distinct, and focussed on a different end product than most of the aforementioned. Indeed, the main problem with the current article is stylistic - it's a bit narrative and chatty. dramatic 04:37, 20 Aug 2004 (UTC)

Good suggestion. I've renamed it cardmaking. Rob User:ecp98rjs
