You're a brave man-I've been avoiding this group. Jim

Probably a case of a fool rushing in where the angels fear to tread. :) I know nothing about these birds; it's one of the very few orders with not one single member in my part of the world. I doubt that I've even seen one in a zoo or stuffed in a glass case. None of my texts have anything on them, so I'm just parroting off stuff I've found on the web - which is actually rather easy; usually I read masses of stuff that's far too detailed to be of any direct use here and buggerise about for ages trying to make sense of it. There is now one order left without a page written: will you or shall I? Tannin 11:07 1 Jun 2003 (UTC)
I would guess we are equally ignorant on these, so leave it with me. I've seen lots of woodpeckers, and Lesser Honeyguide, but not much else in Piciformes. btw, I've read your article on Ballarat, so you might like to take a look at Ashby-de-la-Zouch. I've lived in and around here since I left London xxxxx years ago. Jim
