A first attempt at this page, which IMHO should be included. Some of it will sound a bit POV to some given my occasional exasperation with media reporting on the field of oncology. JFW 08:53, 4 Apr 2004 (UTC)

I agree. The article is a good starter but
"The difference is almost entirely due to stigma by the media, especially in reports of famous cancer patients." is probably stretching neutrality by blaming the media for cancer's stigma. The media could perhaps do much to reduce the stigma but its existence is probably more to do with people's experience than media's reports. Tiles 09:06, 4 Apr 2004 (UTC)

I am glad this page is here, but there should also be a page 'cancer survivor'. Cancer patients past the 5 year survival *dead*line like to think of themselves as survivors, not patients. Jane 19:42, 10 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
