In order to make this a nondictionary article:

Who has been called Beatlesque? Who was first named? Who first used the name? Why does anyone care? -- Sam

I deleted this entry from the list of "Beatlesque bands" table:

"Slayer: Described The Beatles as their "Dark Masters." Their album Reign in Blood is particularly reminisent of A Hard Day's Night."

For utter ridiculousness. Perhaps it should be over at uncyclopedia. If I am somehow horribly wrong, just correct me.

"Coldplay: Known for their Beatlesque melodies." Uh, bullshit. They don't sound anything alike. The only real connection I can think of is that they're both UK bands. Oh, and that the Beatles made Apple Records while that drooling dunce Chris Martin named his kid Apple. If nobody responds in a week, I'm killing this ridiculous bastardization of a comparison.

Actually I gotta agree with this comparison. As with most brit-rock artists, you can hear beatles influence in 99% of their songs. "The scientist" starts out just like lennon's "imagine". Also, coldplay was heavily influenced by early radiohead, which in turn was heavily influenced by the beatles. Now, coldplay might be terrible and the beatles may be amazing, but that doesnt make coldplay the first terrible band to be influenced by the beatles.

"Singer Liam Gallagher has often been compared to John Lennon in voice and songwriting style."

I like Oasis, but this statement is totally untrue. Of all the articles I've read I've never heard anyone JUSTIFIABLY compare Liam to John Lennon.

Not intentional??[edit]

This article says that "It should be noted that some bands (see Oasis), consciously attempted to mimic the Beatles' sound. For the most part, however, the resemblance to The Beatles is not as intentional."

I strongly disagree. These musicians all know precisely when they are deriving from the Beatles.

cleanup needed[edit]

Seriously, this article needs a lot of work. Right now, it looks like a list a couple of music fans brainstormed, not an encyclopedia article. Please see the wikipedia policies on verifiability and original research.

The Knickerbockers[edit]

This article needs refernece to the Knickerbockers and their hit '60s "Lies." It sounds so much like early Beatles music that many people don't realize that it's not actualy by the Beatles.

Creme Soda[edit]

I'm currently listening to Keep It Heavy by Creme Soda, and it sounds Beatlesque. It's mostly an instrumental, but has vocals, though not words.

Queen[edit]

The comparisons to The Beatles as individuals is pointless. What has this to do with being Beatlesque? Certainly not by the definitions mentioned. Signinstranger 16:49, 28 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I have to agree, the comparisons are ridiculousy far-fetched. The only comparisons that should be noted should be in their music. There's plenty of "eccentric musical geniuses" who died young, that doesn't automatically make them comparable to John Lennon. I see no relevance between those comparisons and the topic of this page. Second, calling Paul "The second musical genius", doesn't seem to have a NPOV . That's coming from a John fan.

I have cleaned out quite a lot of the bands. This is not a fan page, or a self-publicity page. Phrases like: "It has been said", "is quite like" etc. are POVs.

Pete Best Band[edit]

I have a feeling this probably doesn't count but i'm pretty sure the The Pete Best Band's album "Hayman's Green" has been compared to the Beatles typical discography. Would that be applicable to add if sources are found?
