What I read

Many years ago was that the writer (name forgotten) had visited Scotland, and had sampled "Caramel Cookies" (which were manufactured and sold in many shops across the U.K. in the 60's and 70's - a clear plastic (Cellophane?) "tube" wrapper containing 30 or or so cookies, blue printed with the manufacturers name, which /may/ have been "Burtons", I wish i could remember..) - They were a biscuit "To Die For" which was what gave him the idea for the "Scooby Snack".

In the early episodes of Scooby Doo, the Scooby Snack was a small square biscuit-like object, rather than the layered and filled extravaganza of more recent times. This appearance is consistant with the Caramel Cookie.

The Caramel Cookie was approximately square aprox 1.5" (31.8mm) per side, and maybe 3/16ths (work it out!) thick, with rounded corners, medium brown, with a texture where the mix expanded/contracted during cooking.

The Caramel Cookie seems to have vanished from the shelves of the shops, at least in my area, many years ago now.. I would hazard at the mid 1980s. "Why" eludes me, as these were the best biscuits ever.

If anyone knows different *Please* let the world know, specifying location etc.

A close approximation of the flavour, in a different, and to my mind less pleasing, form factor, can be had from "Lotus Original Caramelised Cookies", though these seem more roasted in flavour, and a perhaps a little less sweet, but still very good.

Lotus are a Belgian company which claim to distribute to many countries around the world.

Not encyclopedic[edit]

It makes far too many refereces to personal experiences, opinions, and unfounded theories...not encyclopedia-like at all. The information presented is fine; it's just not presented properly, and it has little cohesiveness with the rest of the article.

Split[edit]

They're called Scooby Snax in What's new Scooby Doo ...I can't figure out where to mention that in the article myself

Flavors[edit]

I've seen it come in hundreds of flavors, most notably on A Pup Named Scooby Doo.

Personally , I figure Scooby Snacks taste somewhat like Peanut Butter Crunch cereal,but that's just me. - R.G. 03:47, 19 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

snacks?[edit]

We've always used the phrase "scooby snacks" (or "scoobs" for short) just to refer to any kind of quick and easy snack food (corn dogs, chips & dip, microwave popcorn, freezer pizza, etc). I have no idea if this is common usage or just local, so I don't want to alter the article without checking.--H-ko (Talk) 03:06, 13 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
