Byterapers/Scoopex party[edit]

I just removed the reference to a Byterapers/Scoopex party. This party was never the "first Gathering". Maybe there was a party called The Gathering in 1991 in Finland, organized by Byterapers and Scoopex, but if that's the case, it's just a coincidence that both parties have the same name. They are in no way related. The first party of what we know as "The Gathering", was definately held in Skedsmohallen in Lillestrøm in 1992.

Worlds largest[edit]

I will remove the text about TG being the worlds largest computer party. Here is some text from www.dreamhack.org: Worlds largest LAN-party, DreamHack Winter 2004 was certified by Guinness World Records and Twin Galaxies as the world's largest LAN party with 5852 computers simultaneously connected to the network. World's largest[edit]

bbx: You're raising an interesting point here, and there's always been discussion over which one is biggest. It is, however, not easy to say, as you lack a) a proper metric (number of computers? number of attendees? number of network points?) and b) someone to measure it. TG99, TG03 and TG04 (IIRC) invited the Guinness World Book of Records like Dreamhack did, but the response was basically "sorry, not interested". The later TGs have sold (IIRC) 5200 tickets, and then you can start discussing if you are to count the crew, the press, day-passes etc... Sesse

Daily Life[edit]

I wrote that section originally. Having been at TG99-TG06, and thus having spent almost two solid months at TG in all, I'm quite sure it's factually accurate. -Sesse

Article name[edit]

Shouldn't this be moved to The Gathering (demo party) or The Gathering (computer party)? The official name is The Gathering.toresbe 09:09, 3 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Image:TG06 DarkSideOfPluto Final.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. Still world largest?[edit]

The article says it's the world largest computer party, but how is a computer party different than a LAN party (Computer party redirects to LAN party)? According to the article, it has some 5200 visitors every year.

Now, last DreamHack Winter (2010) had 12,754 computers and 13,608 visitors. Now I don't understand how 5200 can in any way be larger than 13,608? This, of course, is if computer party is something really different than LAN party, but I don't think it is, because it redirects to LAN party? --193.11.163.169 (talk) 15:32, 1 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Sure, some parts are informative, but this whole article reeks of biased views, obviously written by someone involved in the event... like the following found in the table over the names of events and their descriptions:

2012 - “At the end of the universe” - The Gathering 2012 will take you to places you’ve yet to experience.
