Yes, he is In-Training. The game that called him a rookie was a typo, which happens all the time. Check the card's, or an official fan-site for more info. Not even Mr. Lister's Koromon survived intact. 15:19, 13 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

re-do[edit]

I really had to re-do this page, it didn't do Calumon justice :P - Aluren

Well, you did forget a few things, such as not putting this as a personal article. I have removed two of the links because they are for Digimon in general, and not for this one. -x42bn6 Talk 07:15, 16 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Entelekheia[edit]

Is this even a word? The only place I could find it on the Internet was as a profile name for a forum member. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 128.211.181.49 (talkcontribs) .

It's a real greek which means the the realization of potential. It refers to the state when a potential 'something' actually becomes the 'something'. No idea who or where the term "Digi Entelekheia" actually comes from, or even if it's canon. --Yaksha 06:21, 3 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
The term is "Digi-Entelechies". It's used in the original Japanese version, and referenced here on Chiaki J. Konaka's Digimon Tamers website. http://www.konaka.com/alice6/tamers/characters/calumon-e.html and http://www.konaka.com/alice6/tamers/cjk/DigitalWold_e.jpg (near the bottom) -Tacubus (talk) 01:05, 19 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Merge and Trim[edit]

This seems like it might benefit from being trimmed and merged to the List_of_characters_in_Digimon_Tamers#Calumon article. Thoughts?KrytenKoro 04:22, 21 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I believe not as Calumon has information outside the anime about him. I think it's good enough as it is. Trainra 06:26, 25 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

There is information, but not really a lot. I'd be fine with a merge, but whatever. -- Ned Scott 06:31, 25 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

You are correct that the Japanese don't really use pronouns, and that wasn't something I considered. However, at this point Calumon is neither male or female. Calumon is "young and cute" which can really go either way. -- Ned Scott 04:43, 16 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

.., tnx very much Ned Scott you got my point calumon's gender is on the viewer's opinion and the head writer mr.Chiaki J. Konaka didn't put a specific gender for calumon.., i just being bothered for using masculine pronun for calumon. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 124.106.83.36 (talk) 05:37, 16 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

According to the main page of the Tamers section, the translation was done by someone he knew, and presumably he checked her work. Granted, that's not an absolute certainty, but the fact remains that the dub and the translated site are the most official sources we have access to, and they both use "he".Not even Mr. Lister's Koromon survived intact. 05:53, 16 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

LL, The pronouns for the third person are "kare (he)" or "kanojo (she)." Rather than using these words, it is preferred to use ththey have no basis in gender using "he". "person's name or describe them as "ano hito (that person)." It is not necessary to include gender."(ka re) was used for both men and women. Japanese is grammatically far less sensitive to the difference between male and female than European languages in the sense that it has no gender based on sex. disregard the dub XD i hate it, —Preceding unsigned comment added by 124.106.83.36 (talk) 06:08, 16 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Japanese is about as sensitive as European languages - there are clear differences in the speech patterns between a male and a female - it's just that, unlike European languages, this is done on the part of the speaker, not the subject. In fact, one could say it is more sensitive, as gender is always appropriate to its target, as opposed to European languages which give arbitrary gender conjugations to the subject (so, an animal could get the female conjugation, even if it's male). However, it is true that whenever the gender or subject is understood, it is not repeated. Not even Mr. Lister's Koromon survived intact. 07:11, 16 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

..,yeah there is-.-, but like i said earlier they are much using thier language traditionaly,0.o, and Mr. Chiaki J. konaka write the article in a less sensitive gender manner.., although the translator used the sensitive one. yeah i believe also that there are also glitches of europian language another example was we nurses also got the female conjugation even if i was a male o.0.., you said clearly that there is no significant gender of calumon so... =3 —Preceding unsigned comment added by 124.106.83.36 (talk) 06:45, 18 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Deep breaths. We're talking about Calumon's gender here. -- Ned Scott

.., not moi! *.* mr.KrytenKoro make it far ..,sry regard on that i said "the translator used the sensitive one" they both used non-gender specific case.., i have just confused(it's a fact that alcohol destroys your brain =D). they used gender sensitive is the DUB yeah the dub.., the english one who ruined everything they diminished thr essence of culumon. no culu, change the way talk, lowers the voice and man.. making her boyish and changed it's gender.., not only calumon but lopmon change from male to female -.-.., CORRECT! you didn't said "there is no significant gender of Calumon" but in your reply about the conjugation etc. you makin sense that there's no significances on culumon's gender - go read it again >:3. it's not comin from your mouth, it's the consequences for your doing ^^; ~meaux —Preceding unsigned comment added by 124.106.83.36 (talk) 03:57, 19 August 2008 (UTC) æ.., you should use "it" rather than he (or SHE much better ^^) —Preceding unsigned comment added by Boytamiya (talkcontribs) 04:29, 19 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Actually "he" is appropriate to use when the gender is unknown. See Gender-neutral pronoun#Gender markedness. -- Ned Scott 05:58, 19 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

.., but it is inappropriate with calumon - specially with a gender conflict, what happened if you used the masculine pronoun you will probably be troubled some viewers like me^^... lets say it is non-fair using that in calumon's case, —Preceding unsigned comment added by Boytamiya (talkcontribs) 06:17, 19 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

With Lopmon, the original specifically mentioned that he was male, and the only confusion was because Lopmon originally did not speak in gender-specific speech, as it used archaic. With all the other characters, they pretty much spoke with normal, gender-specific speech. With Calumon, there is no evidence of a gender change - the dub shows him as a male, and Konaka's site backs that up - though it is translated, it's translated by a native Japanese speaker, and by someone Konaka knows. Not even Mr. Lister's Koromon survived intact. 06:45, 19 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

how you can define gender specific speeches? if you use it in a basis, which was more gender specific in the japan version? it is calumon or lopmon (or which more feminine). the lopmon was regognized in gchange bec. on his evo though, while calumon had no specific gender before so theres no evidince in gender change (because calu is neither he/she). and you mean "native Japanese speaker",(review jap pronoun) ~kay thats for today —Preceding unsigned comment added by Boytamiya (talkcontribs) 07:23, 19 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

.., no reply? time to attack^^ first of all mr Konaka didn't put specific gender for culumon, if ever he will make her a partner like mipple and mepple or said that she was a guy. isn't that digimon tamers was aired in july 2001 and the dub was aired on september on the same year. and the youtube was established on 2005. so the english dub and the jap was simultaneously aired in the same year with only a 2 months interval so the result are- the Japanese only watch their product and the english dub was distributed along the english- speaking countries = all english countries known culumon to be a guy. in fact on mid 2003 my friend Aluren post a poll which replied 87% of 140 voted culumon was a guy (ok some are still believe but quite frustrating). but that was just in the past.... now the internet has grown and the establishment of youtube was set. i browse culumon in youtube and i found out that they talked about calumon as a male and i was shocked at the dub it was so different than i what i used to know. then after a while (maybe year) some kind hearted people uploaded the japanese version of it and finally enlightened the viewers. they compare the jap and the eng version and mostly liked the jap ones. today many calumon-male-believer change to calumon-female believer,calumon-female believers boosted when they saw the jap version. even lolicons make a gijinka version of calumon. ... these are the factors that contribute of calumon's false gender... therefore if the tamers would be aired today culumon would be sure female. yeah right^^ next attack will be finish this —Preceding unsigned comment added by Boytamiya (talkcontribs) 12:49, 21 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I'm not sure why you keep bringing youtube into this (Fan-belief and lolicon's have no influence or relevance to this question anyway.). The facts are that Konaka's site calls him male, the dub called him male, and that there's no evidence of gender confusion, like there was with Lopmon (again, the confusion with Lopmon is that it didn't use gender-specific speech until long after it was introduced, and used archaic instead). Yes, he was voiced by a female voice actor - so was Ichigo Kurosaki when portrayed as a child.
Also, PLEASE sign your posts. It's getting really annoying. Not even Mr. Lister's Koromon survived intact. 21:30, 21 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

..., were did you find that they call her male? i didn't find either in translated i only found that the pronoun "he" (suposed "he/she" in japan is not crucial form of speach once again. and they used "he" because is more dominant than she by means of "non-specific" for example: man. "he" is used for man and man is composed not only of men but also women. maybe thats their point by the way they are japanese means they have different pronun use). I'll be believing that she was a male if thier is significant note by the head writer or the designer telling that culumon was a he... but non would came... also from other character they don't say guilmon was a male we are know he was a male by our "COMMON SENSE" (yeah common sense is not so common for us stupids^^). and agin the DUB the dub always changed everything for example:there are couples of cuts and changing of themes, the tamers in the jap was 10 and the dub they are 12. guilmon sounded a baby but in dub he sound like an idiot. rika speak cold and in dub man she realy speak like a brat. and ESPEYCIALLY culumon is used to be a "girlie" in japan, a cute, childish innocent and HUMBLE and in the dub they made her a he and changed her personality 100% taht calumon is so ironically sarcastic annoying hyper digimon in contrast in the japanese culumon(far more different). they change the attitude but not the motions and actions(they only CUT it). don't disregard the lolicons and the youtube though all of lolicons I asked believe that culumon has the esence of a loli and tha dubed one is said it's shota(they are genious! viva lolicons^^) the youtube is very essential that was the one who abridged the changes original one than the dubed. by the way how can i sign my post? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Boytamiya (talkcontribs) 02:09, 22 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

1) add four ~ after your post
2) Konaka's official site calls Calumon a male. It may be in the translated section, but that is approved by Konaka, and is considered official.
3) Lolicon's, Youtubers, etc., have no relevance or usefulness in this discussion. In all honesty, youtube is one of the cesspits of the internet. Not even Mr. Lister's Koromon survived intact. 05:38, 22 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

1) what add four? 4chan?o.0 2) because it is based on the DUB version (it's wrong) the translator even called lopmon a female 3) don't blame them... they are just the "VIEWERS" who reacted on what they WATCHED regards that they watch a crap so they would be a cesspit 0.o —Preceding unsigned comment added by Boytamiya (talkcontribs) 05:52, 22 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

1) I clearly explained it to you. The site explains it to you when you add a comment. It's incredibly easy to search for the answer. If you're going to be deliberately stupid about it, I'm not going to cater to you.
2) It's on Konaka's damn site. There has been no reliable reports of the gender being changed. Even if there were, wikipedia articles base themselves on the English versions of a material.I am incredibly tired of weaboos who automatically assume that "America=Bad" or "Not-Japan=Bad". How about that whole racism thing? The Japanese nation is historically waaaay into that. We're not going to change the article based on youtube comments - provide clear evidence from official sources that Calumon is supposed to be a female, that he uses female speech patterns, or something like that. From all I've seen, he is supposed to be a toddler, which perfectly explains him having a female voice actor.

3) And they're also no-nothing idiots who don't seem to realize that "female voice actor != female character". It means "female OR young character". I don't have respect for youtubers at all - I've had them try to tell me that people who throw tantrums should be appeased, or that episodes of Digimon uploaded to youtube aren't violating copyright, and its viewers aren't breaking the law by watching it.Not even Mr. Lister's Koromon survived intact. 07:17, 22 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

.., okay relax.. take a deep breathe and let it go... 1.) youre right, there is no reliable reports of the gender being changed in mr Konaka's site even on lopmon's case 2.) I'm not a weeabo or whatever the hell of racist i want only clarification and fairness. im just an anonymous being gentle to everyone just like other anonymous (read internet rules 4-7).thats a simple logic if you think female voice actor=female character your dumb. even a child in our country never believe that, infact naruto here is dubed by female actor. and in december of 2007 they release tagalized digimon tamer and culumon comes out right from the original. 3.) some idiots but not all I'm honest I'm also a youtubers and had many accounts from many forums in the internet. you must know that internet is serious business. And youtube has an agreement on the copyright of the film, ask them. "just being fair my friend, why we just use the pronoun "it" rather than a specific one."Boytamiya (talk) 02:11, 27 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

"provide clear evidence from official sources that Calumon is supposed to be a female, that he uses female speech patterns, or something like that." I suggest you that the japanese one would be fine. if you mean "or something like that." i can provide what you're looking for ^^....(you little pervert x_x... just joking) but the jap version is just fine. i sense these war was going to an end...Boytamiya (talk) 02:11, 27 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
No, I want reliable reports of a gender-change. It does not have to be from Konaka's site, but we're not going to add stuff to this page just because someone on youtube wants to complain about the dub.
From what I could see on youtube, they believed Calumon was supposed to be female simply because he's voiced by a female. If they'd like to show how he's using feminine speech patterns, or calling himself female, fine, but as it is, they were going on "female VA=female character".Not even Mr. Lister's Koromon survived intact. 17:23, 22 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
why would you always repeating what you are saying.... they know about it most of them are otakus. try to ask ["donn021"] about it you will see what you looking for XD! or go to the forums. GTG no tym to talk see ya later boy Boytamiya (talk) 02:11, 27 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
"donn021" is an idiot, and there's no politer way to say it. Most of the ones I talked to on his video were weeaboos who don't actually know anything about Japan or the language, but wet their pants if you tell them something is from there - case in point; "Otaku" is an insult, and is akin to calling someone a "40 year-old virgin who lives with their parents". Sorry if this seems harsh.
By the way, I keep repeating it because the opinions of youtube commenters simply isn't useful or relevant at all, and we need something official or intelligent. So far, the only official info we have says that Calumon's male. Not even Mr. Lister's Koromon survived intact. 04:20, 27 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
On the major forums, like this one, it indicates that Calumon was originally male in the Japanese version. In fact, nearly all fansites, including the ones that are majorly obsessed with the Japanese version and use the Japanese names for everything, call Calumon a male. Again, these are people who have been aggressively interested in Digimon for several years, and actually translate the Japanese materials and subtitle/dub the episodes.
I think you can see why I trust them above anonymous youtubers who...well, I'll just say it, who are addicted to Digimon hentai. Not even Mr. Lister's Koromon survived intact. 04:25, 27 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
