introduction

I think the introduction should not include into what kind of family he was born. That is for the biographical part of the article. It should instead include what are Fry Richardson's contributions that make him notable. The introduction should address the question as to why is he included in wikipedia. Ralph Richardson - ? relation

I have added a fact tag to "He was the uncle of the actor Sir Ralph Richardson". but don't think it is relevant anyway. Perhaps someone could do an article n the Richardson Family for that bit of information, if it is relably sourced. Vernon White ^{. . . Talk} 23:01, 20 October 2007 (UTC)

Confusing grammar

The below ought to be reworded. I get loss as to what is "negatively proportional to what." I'd reword, but I can't figure out what the intended meaning is.

Considering the armament of two nations, Richardson posited an idealized system of equations whereby the rate of a nation's armament build-up is directly proportional to the amount of arms its rival has and also to the grievances felt toward the rival, and negatively proportional to the amount of arms it already has itself.

I serendipped on

I'm a great believer in including good bibliographies in articles, and that this should be one of the FIRST jobs to do when building an article - after all, you can't write an article without any sources! For example, I did this for Noel-Baker, an article I hope eventually to take to FA status. So yes, definitely have a "works" or "bibliography" section, which IMO should use citation templates throughout. In LFR's case, there are too many scientific papers to include them all, but the list should certainly include all his books, and the more significant of his scientific papers. (I received the Ashford and Körner books in the post this morning, but it'll take me a while to read and digest them.)

Father-in-Law

From a quick skim through Ashford and the ODNB article, WG was a good friend of the family, but I don't think that's necessarily an "influence" in the sense implied by the scientist infobox. May become clearer once I've read the books.

Retirement in Kilmun

Professor Richardson lived in Kilmun, a small village near Dunoon. In retirement he and his wife regularly hosted parties for local children where he entertained them with lectures on science and astronomy, whilst Mrs Richardson provided cocoa and cakes. He had a large astronomical refracting telescope. Many local children got their first views of the Jovian system and Saturn's rings, with Prof Richarsdson's telescope, including my father and his brothers. The Richardson's were highly regarded and, still today, are fondly remembered. Incompatible blood types??
