Confusing[edit]

Yes, I think it was, or at least we have a POV problem here. The Britannica Concise Encyclopedia (redirected to Esdraelon) says, "...it was swampy and sparsely inhabited for many centuries, but since 1920 the land has been reclaimed." The Columbia Encyclopedia says,"Once a swampy malarial lowland, Esdraelon has been drained and turned into one of Israel's most fertile and densely populated regions." (That also corresponds to what old people who live in the region have told me.) If you Google the phrase "huge green lake of waving wheat" you will be directed exclusively to pro-Palestinian websites, plus websites that reference Wikipedia. Jenin, or: where is the Jezreel Valley?[edit]

(continuing discussion) The reason that I think it's worthwhile to include a mention of Jenin in this article, is because it's a good link to a modern location, and the Jenin page also has a map which clearly states where it is. For myself, when I first read the Jezreel Valley article, my reaction was, "Nice article, but where the heck is this place?" The term "West Bank" pulls up a general location in my mind, but it was still very vague. If we can find an actual map to put on this article though with an "X marks the spot," then I won't care as much about whether or not we specifically mention Jenin. Outline: where does the Jezreel Valley start/end?[edit]

The description of the boundaries in the opening are pretty bad. Afula and Tiberias - espeically the latter - have no reason being mentioned as border areas of the valley. Afula is practically in the middle of the valley. Generally, the valley stretches southeast-to-northwest, and this description does not even hint at that, really. Mount Gilboa can be said to be the starting/ending point of the valley in the southeast, though honestly, I'd say that valley stretches northwest from the Jordan Valley. The northwest limits are also a bit ambiguous dependent upon whether one considers the small passage the Kishon River flows through a continuation of the valley. But, it is clearly geographically delineated at this point in either case. Here are two good maps:
