Untitled[edit]

Why only hardware products?

Software is as important:

Operating systems: EXEC8 aka OS/1100 or OS/2200 VS/9 aka TSOS OS/3

System Software: TIP DMS/1100 RMDS UDS

MAPPER

Application Software USAS

I have subdivided one section into categories, and added some products.

Maybe this form of division should precede the historical one?

Lacks minicomputer line[edit]

The page lacks the minis sold first by Varian Data Machines first under 620f and earlier and later, I think V70, V73, and maybe V76 designations. 100s if not 1000s of machines. 143.232.210.38 (talk) 20:05, 23 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

A quick look with Google is a disappointment - someone has surely written the history of the Varian Data Machines and the acquistion by Sperry, but Google hasn't got round to digitizing it yet. If you have any quotable literature on this it would be helpful if you could add something on this...Wikipedia doesn't even have a list of the Varian machine models. --Wtshymanski (talk) 14:35, 24 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Need dates[edit]

It would really be useful to have announcement and shipping dates for the various computers. Shmuel (Seymour J.) Metz Username:Chatul (talk) 11:48, 31 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Classification of computers[edit]

I find the sorting of computers into categories to be puzzling. How is the 1005 a calculating machine rather than a computer? How is the 1230 an embedded system? There were a lot of machines in the 490 series that were used in military applications, including shipborn, but that doesn't make them embedded systems Shmuel (Seymour J.)
