The attack on the East Coast is identified as Drumbeat (the common translation); it is correctly Paukenschlag, which has overtones of "tatto" or "thunderbolt" not commonly mentioned.
To the IP who's edit warring in a claim that Dönitz's appointment as German leader by Hitler was illegal, please provide secondary sources that support this. Citing only/mainly German legislation violates Wikipedia's rules against original research. There should be books or similar that establish this if it's actually the case.
