Untitled[edit]

I believe there are quite a few characters missing...

    • Carl's "girlfriend." I have since forgotten her name as I have not seen As Told By Ginger in a vair long time. Boo. Hissss!
    • Darren's older brother, Will Patterson.
    • Marge, Carl's friend. She was the old woman that be met in some kind of a hospital or nursing home. She eventually dies, but returns for the Halloween episode.
    • Dodie's mother.

And that's all I can think of for now. If anybody wants to add them, be my guest. I don't remember much about them, so I shall not be the one to do it.
- EDIT Aha! Noelle Sussman is the name of Carl's girlfriend. She's mentioned. But not gone into detail about...

why are there lips like that and why dose it not come on anymore????

The show has been cancelled, and their lips are the way they are, because the artist has the RIGHT to draw them as he/she chooses. Michael 04:57, 13 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I thought that they were in Massachusetts, not Connecticut. --66.153.178.253 17:30, 2 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

No.

How was Noelle a lesbian??

Interracial Relationship[edit]

The article claimed that this was the first interracial relationship depicted in a cartoon. Hardly. The Hunchback of Notre Dame depicted that years before, and I'm sure there have been other cartoons featuring it as well. So, I deleted this off the trivia section. Nqnpipnr 02:26, 14 December 2006 (UTC) THND does not show an interracial reltionship. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Realtóg (talkcontribs) 13:02, 16 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Characters Section[edit]

I really don't think we need the mini character descriptions on this page. We have a link to a full page of all characters and that should be enough. I've seen it on other pages (i.e. That's So Raven and Desperate Housewives). It looks better, in my opinion, if it's just the link. But if we must have the characters listed, could we just have a cast list and not descriptions. it takes up too much space and is unessassary when there is a whole article devoted to it.—The preceding unsigned comment was added by Snoborder93 (talkcontribs) 23:58, 25 February 2007 (UTC).[reply]

Since no one replied, i took the liberty of creating cast list in the section rather than having character descriptions. I also merged TV movies with the episodes section.

Why is the show so stupid?

Currently, the character section is pretty poorly written. Definitely not encyclopedia quality. In fact, the whole article is pretty bad, like it was written by 10 year-olds. Does it even need a "show airings" section? Not really, no. It's fairly long but not very important for it article. The trivia section is also very long. Most of the information there could probably be merged into other parts of the article or removed entirely. The whole article needs some major changes, but I don't think I should be doing that sort of thing without discussing it with the other editors of this article first, although there don't appear to be very many. 24.160.68.28 15:21, 27 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Well since then, the trivia section has been shortened and someone rewrote the characters section has been put into its own article. The Show Airings should definately stay. Snoborder93 22:06, 23 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Holy Freaking Christ[edit]

The trivia section is freaking long

Clean-up[edit]

I cleaned up many parts of the article. I cut down the Airings section and organized it into a chart. I deleted the mini character profiles because they are not necessary when we have a whole article devoted to the characted. I deleted some repetition in the trivia section as well as organized some trivia into different parts of the article and into the Characters page. I will continue to organize more trivia but anyone else is free to do it. Snoborder93 19:43, 3 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

okay i dont know who reposted all the trivia but i'm not going through it again. the facts that were deleted were put into more appropriate places. only repetitive facts were completely deleted. so whoever did that can go through and take out all the facts that are already in other areas.Snoborder93 01:28, 4 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Is Ginger Emo??[edit]

Answer:Yes —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.250.233.187 (talk) 07:26, 28 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

As told by ginger was a great show[edit]

As told by ginger was a great show because it was nice and it was like a real person's life and that's what I like about it. I wish they still made the show but now she's an adult. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.164.93.23 (talk) 03:22, 20 September 2008 (UTC) [reply]

Sorry, but this isn't a forum, it's a page used for discussing improvements on the article... Blake Gripling (talk) 07:30, 20 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
And of course Blake, you'd be so very solicitous of this fact since you obviously love the show so much that you used a character of it as your user name. (I bet that unsigned IP was really Carl Foutley trying to intentionally annoy you!) :-) - CharlieBrown25 (talk) 07:48, 30 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

DVD release[edit]

I haven't anyway of confirming this but the complete series is allegedly for sale at this site.

Don't no if it's real but if someone can find any evidence to support the legitimacy of this, it would be greatly appreciated.

Merger proposal[edit]

The list of characters—now over 50,000 bytes long but for which no reliable secondary sources support its notability—should be merged into this article, preferably condensed into an embedded list with at least a few central characters. 23W 07:06, 4 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Ending Year: 2004 or 2006? NOT 2009.[edit]

The series finale date is always fluctuating in this article.

The 2006 date is debatable as this was just a single "burnoff" of a master collecting dust that technically should have aired a long time ago, but it is factual nonetheless. Unless anyone can provide concrete proof that Episodes 52-60 aired in the US in 2009, the 2009 ending date is completely false. Random TV site episode guides don't count. There is no evidence at all of the episodes airing in the US except for "Ten Chairs", which did air once on Nicktoons in November 2004, as the episode list article stated until the recent "2008-2009" revision.

Meanwhile, there are several message board posts from fans online dating from November 2006 about Episode 51 ("Stuff'll Kill Ya") airing for the first time on Nicktoons[1], most of which note the fact that the subsequent episodes, despite being scheduled, ended up not airing. If any of the later episodes, especially a big three-part series finale, had aired on US television, surely there would have been similar posts about it. One fansite in particular[2] kept track of all Ginger reruns on Nickelodeon and Nicktoons and there is absolutely no mention of Episodes 52-56 and 58-60 airing despite the latest update on the site being November 2009.

Also, a now-defunct website had schedule archives of Nickelodeon and Nicktoons. Said archives showed that Nickelodeon dropped Ginger reruns in December 2008 and Nicktoons dropped it in January 2009. The Sheltered Shrubs fansite echoes the latter fact. I remember checking both networks' archives for November 2009 (because this article had a 2009 ending year before it was "corrected" to 2006 last year) and there was nothing about Ginger in either. Although the schedule archive site is not up anymore, a blog entry[3] from the archivist echoed statements that Ginger has "eight half-hours" unaired (Episodes 52-56 and 58-60).

More proof that the high school episodes are unaired in the US: when the series was available for purchase on iTunes and Amazon Video (the listings are still up on the latter service despite being unavailable for purchase), most of the episodes had their original air date listed. However, all of the high school episodes (including "Stuff'll Kill Ya") had the series premiere date of October 25, 2000 listed as their original air date, likely as a placeholder.[4] Even if the episodes had been "burned off" in 2008-2009, those dates would have been displayed. All Grown Up went through a similar situation where the last episodes were all aired on Nick at once in 2008, years after they were made, and iTunes and Amazon show 2008 original air dates for these episodes. In addition, IMDB lists Ginger as "2000-present".

Since the series finale was released on DVD in the US in 2004, shouldn't the ending date technically be the 2004 release date? Yes, "Stuff'll Kill Ya" did air on Nicktoons in 2006, over two years after the latest "new" episode had aired. Nick has a habit of "burning off" remaining episodes in early morning time slots well after the series loses popularity, like All Grown Up as mentioned above and My Life as a Teenage Robot. Should 2006 really be considered the "ending year" since only one remaining episode premiered on a random date with no fanfare well after the finale was released on DVD?

In my opinion, the ending date should be the Wedding Frame DVD release date, but the 2006 ending date (the original air date of "Stuff'll Kill Ya") isn't technically wrong, either. Once again, there is no proof that the last episodes aired in 2008-2009. 74.89.137.215 (talk) 07:00, 22 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

End Dates Must Be Sourced[edit]

All of us say that As Told by Ginger ended on different dates. Some say 2004, some say 2006, some say 2009. However, none of these dates are sourced. So please do not change the current air date without a source. Thank you. Cartoons Are My Life (talk) 02:48, 22 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Content dispute re dates etc[edit]

This is completely unacceptable FlutterDash344 and Theshavia29912 both of you are lucky that no one has yet blocked you, and I strongly advise both of you to read WP:EW, now please discuss the dispute civilly on this page instead of edit-warring. A WP:3O may also be advisable, thanks. 83.136.106.241 (talk) 03:18, 28 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I'm trying to stop and listen to music but I can't leave wikipedia cause he keeps on reverting my edit for no reason he's just reverting it because it's not unsourced clearly it says original run whitch I put 2000-2006 whitch is accurate not 2000-2016 what is this spongbob Theshavia29912 (talk) 03:21, 28 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Theshavia29912: Unfortunately, I emphatically do not have time to mediate this dispute right now. What I advise is that both of you present the sources that you believe support your respective positions. With pointers to applicable policies and guidelines. 83.136.106.241 (talk) 03:24, 28 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
People have already told us this but he's still reverting my edit check he probably just reverted it right now so if he reverts acurate information I'm not gonna let it stay like that I'ma revert back that's the problem I don't even wanna be on wikipedia right now I wanna listen to music so pls help me out Theshavia29912 (talk) 03:27, 28 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Theshavia29912: I cannot emphasize this enough, but do not edit-war even if you are right. Instead discuss content here and seek WP:DR if you can't come to an agreement, and that goes for FlutterDash344 as well. I dropped a note at WT:TV so hopefully someone will arrive to mediate this. 83.136.106.241 (talk) 03:30, 28 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Why not explain it in the lead (As Told by Ginger ended production in 2004, although some episodes remain unaired on U.S. television until 2016. bold=new text) and add a footnote to the 2006 date in the infobox: {{efn|Although the series ended in 2006, four previously un-aired episodes were shown on [[NickSplat]] in 2016.}}? Assuming, of course, there are sources for the episodes being shown in 2016. Schazjmd (talk) 14:45, 28 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Choose one. Because either way, your if he reverts acurate information I'm not gonna let it stay like that I'ma revert back and I don't even wanna be on wikipedia right now, in both cases, will lead you to listen to your music. Engaging in edit wars is disruptive and harms community editing and will get you blocked. This should've been discussed on the talk page long ago after three reverts. The revision history looks very distracting and seems like a sissy-fight and I am baffled that the article wasn't protected soon enough, regardless if it's a content dispute because neither of you opened a discussion, or getting blocked soon enough. I don't wanna bother looking at the revision history because there's too much. (This is how community editing is disrupted). Bottom line, if it's supported by reliable sources and appropriate for Wikipedia inclusion, it should stay. Refer to the manual of style for television in which it should generally be followed and seek consensus here if needed Also, @FlutterDash344: if you are not willing to discuss how to shape an article in a dispute you are involved in, you shouldn't be editing here. Fizconiz (talk) 03:24, 30 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Adding my input --> Just read the edit summaries, I didn't need to look at the revision history. Theshavia29912 is correct. The series aired from 2000 to 2006. FlutterDash344, once you include 2016, your encompassing 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, and 2016. Saying that it aired up until 2016 is in fact misleading. Add a note for the six episodes. I can't further explain why it's right, it's common sense. Fizconiz (talk) 03:41, 30 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

FYI, Theshavia29912 has been reported for sockpuppetry (see here). As noted in my comment there, the '29912' in their username seemingly clearly shows this is a sock, with the same numbering at the end of usernames of previous socks. They're already blocked from editing this article for a week, but any edits of theirs elsewhere can likely be WP:BANREVERTed. Magitroopa (talk) 15:27, 30 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

And... they're blocked indefinitely. Magitroopa (talk) 14:06, 6 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
