I was trying to understand the difference between cloth and textile. Just by looking at the Webster's definition, it seems that cloth is more inclusive and includes all woven and non-woven fabric, while textile is only woven fabric. If I am wrong about this, and there is no distiction between cloth and fabric, then they should be combined into to one article. ike9898 02:18, Jan 19, 2005 (UTC)

In the beginning of the cloth article, it says that material and fabric have related but more general meanings. The page for fabric just links back to cloth, though, so in the interest of consistency, shouldn't some more general definition be given there, or failing that, shouldn't this page be edited to reflect that the words are synonyms?

There was no cotton during the 1940's, because of the World War II

There are many types of cloth so we might want to merge them and it would be more convinient
