I'm interested in exploring this more. Does anyone have further reading on the 5th Estate? The 5th Estate is a program on the CBC network in Canada. beyond that and this article I don't know anything more. I'd like to contribute to this though. Oldsoul 02:02, 1 Nov 2004 (UTC)

The Fifth Estate is an addendum to other three "estates of the realm" (Nobility, Clergy and Commoners). The Fifth Estate is considered to be representative of the wealth of information available through and on the internet or via electronic media available through the internet. Wikipedia itself is an excellent example of the fifth Estate, as a conglomerate of knowledge.

Print, radio and television media lay claim to the Fourth Estate.

The First through Third Estates are described elsewhere in Wikipedia.

I was interested to see that the primary listing for the "Fifth Estate" is an anarchist newspaper and the CBC's programming. They are not the definition for the Fifth Estate.

It's not traditionally attached to the estates of the realm though. Last time I checked that page it need more linkage within the individual 'states' pages. Maybe even sometable showing all 5?? Oldsoul 14:40, 5 Feb 2005 (UTC)

I'm deleting the contact information/adertisement for Fifth Estate since the external link provides a link to their website. The irony of an encyclopedia entry on an anarchist paper having an advertisement is too much to bear. Vonsnip
