Title?[edit]

There are actually two varieties of Mackeson [sic] beer, called Mackeson Stout and Mackeson XXX Triple Stout.

Mackeson Stout commonly comes in 330ml cans, alcohol 3% by vol. (Aside: it's an astonishing beer - it tastes rather like a beer-flavoured milk shake). It's also available in a bottle.

Mackeson XXX Triple Stout, as far as I can find, is only available in bottles. My research points to an ABV of 4.9%.

Anyway, my point is I think the title of this article is wrong. It should probably be something like "Mackeson Stout", with a section for each variety of the beer.

it is two different strengths of the same beer. Not sure I believe in the XXXX version though. [1] Moved to brewery page anyway.Justinc 01:13, 15 Apr 2005 (UTC)

Sorry but why has this gone back Mackeson XXX page? Frankly I find it a bit insulting that a page about a British beer is given the title of a particular beer that's only brewed in America, and isn't the original! Following on from my earlier complaint, I have now moved this page to Mackeson's Stout to ensure it is generic. I have also split the beer section up so that it references the three different versions of the stout separately, rather than in one rather cumbersome paragraph. Just in case anyone fancies moving it back again, I'll repeat that Mackeson's is NOT known as Mackeson XXX in the United Kingdom.Bods (talk) 10:57, 15 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Possible Copyvio?[edit]

It appears to be so. I checked the Internet Archive to make sure it wasn't a reverse copyvio (that is, the site copying from Wikipedia), and the IA does indeed have a record of the other site's page dating back to 2003, which predates the first edits of this page on Wikipedia. See: http://web.archive.org/web/20031026101648/http://www.bottledbeer.co.uk/beer.asp?BeerID=1023 (but NB that this page has a stupid bit of Javascript which redirects you to the live page, so either turn off Javascript or hit "Escape" as soon as the first page loads). So it is copyvio, although not on a massive scale. I'm going to add the appropriate tags. Richard W.M. Jones 10:04, 19 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Still brewed in the UK?[edit]

This article indicates it is brewed at the Ram Brewery - which was closed some time ago. Is Mackeson still brewed/available in the UK? 122.107.58.27 (talk) 01:33, 26 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

It is still available in the UK. Someone's changed the article to state its brewed by Wells and Youngs at Bedford. Haven't found any evidence yet but I would presume that's where it went although when the Ram shut. Bods (talk) 10:33, 14 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
